The irony is that jiujitsu is considered the bodily form of chess lol. Its definitely a battle of strategy, composure and wits.

At y'all saying "throw the book at the other girls", or suggesting the death penalty....how many of you got into fights in your early teens? Those fights could've ended unfortunately like this as well. Just go back and remember being 14, 15...scrapping in bathroom etc. It was an accident....but they deserve to deal with the consequences.
Give em 5-10 years.

No, martial arts requires absolutely no intelligence, strategy, endurance, or planning at all.
It is purely animalistic behavior. Every martial art is strictly for offense, not defense.

R.I.P. to the young girl. Even though the attacker is most likely a juvenile they should expose the attacker/atrackers and their horrible parents as well. Also, give the atrackers the most jail time possible.....let them act a fool in jail behind bars where they belong. This is why I keep saying that you can't play games with these kids out here.

Crazy third page in here. This girl didn't hit her head on the sink washing her hands. The young girls that jumped her were the cause of the accident that ended her life. There was a cause to this death that could/should have been avoided. I feel for the girls who have to live with this but not much because...they're still LIVING.
The hypotheticals from fights we were involved in when we were their age is a little off when they didn't result in a death. This one did and you can't really compare the grief from a lost life to a black eye and swollen lip.
I'm not saying throw the book at them, but something needs to be done.

Kids make mistakes and are influenced by peer pressure.

I can't say that the persons in question should get off easily.
I just think that we should look into why our children tend to resort to violence at such an early age in our society. That could've been anyone of us at that age cuz I know I've seen my fair share of middle school/HS fights and ##@% can turn sour in a heartbeat.
But the older I get the more I look back and try to understand why violence was so rampid in my school/youths across america.
We tend to just look at locking them up and pretty much feeding them to the system at such an early age as the end-all solution but that just ends up creating more problems as it is.
But %$&$ it, I guess we can't live in a perfect world all the time...

Fighting is caveman behavior and should be treated as such. There's a reason why the US has so many fights and require security guards at schools. The culture and mentality around fighting needs to change as well as tougher punishment for these actions.
In my country I've never heard of security guards at schools. Fighting in school results in the instigator(s) getting expelled and all participants are suspended for several weeks with community service during school hours.
Schools can also expel students for fighting outside of school grounds.
I went to a highschool with 3500 students and from 7th to 12th grade there was one fight on school grounds.
Over here, fighting is heavily looked down upon and seen as caveman behavior, a lack of emotional control. Fighting does not gain you respect, instead it results in the instigator being ostracized, as it should be.
This probably sounds extreme but it works. I don't know many people who have ever been in a serious fight, certainly not over the age of 18. Everyone has had some small altercations as a little kid but when you're no longer in elementary school it's time to grow up and leave the caveman behavior behind.

they're just kids
it would be better at going after the parents or removing the child from the home. the lack of morality ingrained in these girls is obviously a result of parental negligence. implement a strike system for physical altercations in school. Kid gets in 3 fights. yank them out of the home. maybe then parents will wake up and be involved. if that doesn't work then they werent really good at parents to begin with.
