I Guess Birdman's Son Doesn't Have Cookies?

When ppl say early Cash Money/No Limit, I think 95-96, and NYC was def not rocking to that. Kast and DF was a diff story.

late 90's- early 2000's a few heads were up on it but mostly youngins.

CM/NL had some airplay and club spins cause broads loved shaking to it and we loved watching them, some rappers realized they could expand their market as well, but NYC wasn't too receptive to this wave, especially older heads.

And I don't think too many heads outside of NO was rocking with the 2nd and 3rd tier NL cats who were dropping every week.

All this

NL was mostly heard around 96/99 and Cash Money around 99/02 in that South and West Coast ... Barely in nYc .. Back that *** up and Bling Bling was the only two song of the top that were being listen everywhere ... after 02 Lil Wayne was heavy every where

At least that's how I remember it ...

For me ... I always thought Wayne was going to be the biggest dude there ... His voice on all the hotboyz track was the set-off ...

Agreed. I mean, it was clear to me that Wayne was the one with th star quality.

I never would've guessed he'd be THIS big of a star though.

Predicting Wayne was going to be the #1 from that group would be like me predicting Yao Ming would have been the first pick in his draft year. That was honestly a no brainer.

He was clearly being pushed the heaviest, hence his closing verse in Back that Thang Up. He was primed for that postition

In other news though

Folks trolling Charlemange on Twitters LOL

Frenchy @BlackDistrict1 @cthagod I see Charlemagne been online all week. Baby got that *** stayin in the house

BG was better than Wayne up until carter 1
Also funny a lot of people STOPPED messing with Wayne around this time as they felt like he was losing his Southern Style. Well I know folks in this area and down south felt that way. Carter 1 Wayne was very different from Younger Wayne. ANd of course, as someone gets older their sound changes

Huh? BG and Juvie had the platinum albums and multi platinum singles. They were pushed the hardest. BG went to rehab and jail for some time, so Wayne kind of took his place. Then Juvie and BG left Cash Money and Wayne couldn't leave, even though he begged and cried. Juvie confirmed that. Wayne crying on the phone. Then they put out that trash *** 500 Degreez album. Mad people couldn't even tell Wayne and Turk apart half the time on the Hot Boys records until they really blew up.

I guess I am more so looking at it from  long term POV.

Juve was pushed hard. He was the dude at the moment. When he was on top of things, he was UP THERE.

But with Wayne, it was almost like the Young Dude waiting in the wings for his turn.

I compare it to Aaron Rogers first 2 years in the league. Sure Bret was putting up numbers and they were winning, we all just new what the future held

I never viewed BG as anything other than the people's champ. He never had a shot of making it as the #1.

When that first Hot Boys album came out, mad people couldn't tell. There wasn't mad pics out, videos or anything. No one knew unless you were from the south. They sounded alike at times.

I always laugh when people say they knew Wayne would be a star. When everyone left, Turk's album didn't do as well as they expected. 500 Degreez got ******* on and basically the Big Tymers carried the label. NO ONE was saying during those years Wayne was gonna be a star and save it while the Big Tymers were keeping them afloat. Wayne couldn't even get an album out because there was no hype and Cash Money was looking for new talent because it was getting bad. Those wack *** Squad tapes blew up and then it ended up blowing up, put an album out and Wayne rode the Dipset wave.

I'm not even the biggest Wayne but you kinda discrediting him.

You skipped over Tha Block Is Hot album. Which was platinum just like BG's. Wayne had a memorable verse on Back That *** Up and he did the chorus on Bling Bling. It was obvious Wayne was gonna be a star. Cash Money got cold when everybody started leaving but Wayne kept grinding and once Go DJ dropped Wayne took off.

Juve was the best. Always was the best rapper and basically carried them ****** back in the day.

This. Even when he did bounce music...

"Bounce for the Juvenile"

Soulja Rag > 400 degreez

That album was so raw. Money On The Couch ...

Pretty much. BG and Juve had all the hits early, but Birdman/Slim always made sure they had Wa_n_ strategically attached to some of the biggest records. Basically they coddled him until they felt like he was ready, and until Juve and BG figured out how much money was being taken from them.

Wayne started to take over as soon as Gorilla Warfare dropped.

TBIH sealed it.

Lights out is one of the most underrated albums ever but still had the hood ringin.

500 Degreez wasnt trash.

It was just a rough translation time.

Way of Life was number 1 on 106 for a min.

And did you call the SQ tapes whack?

I will bust yo **** boy!
