The days of seeing the Cal Bears lace up PE Air Jordans  on-court are numbered now that the university has signed a 10-year deal with Under Armour. According to the university, this partnership will begin on July 1, 2017, when its current deal with Nike is up.

Under Armour has been aggressive in trying to bridge the gap between itself and Nike, and signing one of the most prestigious universities in the world is another step in the right direction. While we're used to seeing the traditional apparel and footwear sponsorship, this deal goes far beyond that, and will benefit all students, not just athletes. "Under Armour will not only exclusively design and supply the footwear, apparel and equipment for the athletic department’s wide range of men’s and women’s sports, but also connect directly with the broader campus community by providing student internships, employment opportunities for UC Berkeley graduates, charitable partnerships and exclusive product discounts for campus departments, among other offerings," said the university. Under Armour is going to have to do more than just provide schools with gear to compete with Nike, and this partnership looks to go above and beyond that.

I don't know how I feel about this. As an alumni of Berkeley, I remember loving the feeling of rocking that fresh Nike gear.
Also, the student store always had some Under Armour Cal gear, but it was hella expensive. And finally, I'm not completely
convinced on under armour's footwear. They're cool for football, and are getting better at basketball, with SC's shoes being
imo their first really solid hoop shoe. But what about the other sports??? Does under armour even make shoes for tennis,
volleyball, etc?

I would definitely invest in UA, cus they are on the rise.

I bought some stock earlier this week. I wish i would have gotten in before the stock split.

UA is also going after European soccer teams. It's def a good time to buy.

Happens all the time in college and high school ..boils down to who offers the most perks to school and coaches..one of the high schools I coached at switched just because AD and coaches got more gear..nothing to do with quality

UA has been scooping up a lot of schools in recent years, I definitely like what they do with college football more than Adidas

Similar to Maryland I can't picture Cal in anything else cept nike. UA been coming up doe, good to see competition. But fresh nike gear>

Under armour's rise has alot more to do with adidas demise than da acutal appeal of UA..

Im for spirited competition, thats what made Nike so dope in da 90's cuz they had adidas, Fila, Reebok chompin at their heels.

In da American market? Oh yeah.

Forbes has reported that Under Armour has surpassed Adidas to become the second-largest apparel brand in the United States.

Apparel is not surprising i see that EVERYWHERE but sneakers?

More UA rise than adidas demise.

Fams when you realize how massive Adidas is worldwide, and yet how incompetent they are in da US domestic Market, its easy to understand UA's rise. My point is Under Armour wouldn't even had oxygen to breath had Adidas been on its job.

Its no Surprise they lost da NBA contract, they weren't getting any gains in market share to make it worth their while.
