Da majority of Millennials now reject Capitalism Vol. Comrades afoot

why aren't old(er) millennials involved with this poll? they are people from roughly 1983-2000, they have voices too

This is factual...cuz someone born in 80-83 has ZERO in common with late 90's born babies...
This is why I find it weird that I'm labeled as a millennial.

Just take ppl born in the 80s to ppl born in the 90s, we aint all on the same pg.

Word to the first reply though I'm not even sure those late 90s millennials have really experienced capitalism to reject it. At best they know they don't like corrupt capitalism.

I also find it unsettling that the default or alternatives are communism or socialism or marxism. You'd think by now somebody or some group would've crafted something relatively new that may incorporate different things from the other options.

I cringe whenever I hear black or indigenous people talk about politics as if we play a role in that now or will ever as long as it's running. Cringe even more when said people talk about party allegiance as if they both don't collectively and concertedly have your absolute worst intent at heart lls.
So are you saying to just deal with being unrepresented and having no voice? What is the alternative? Live off the grid? Hobo life? Black market/Dark net life?

Not to get too deep on the subject but capitalism is terrible from just looking at it in a historical perspective. Someone will always become exploited under capitalism, and it always leads to corruption. Add that to the fact that i grew up with people that had no way out, that had to result to breaking laws to survive. I just dont see how this system can be good, not to mention this is the ideology that lead to imperialism, colonialism, slave trade etc. People over Money

Capitalism has gotten worse once the major corps were allowed to infiltrate politics and influence them.

That and the lack of term limits for members of Congress. Dudes got in, got comfortable and allowed the money to fill their coffers.

People want to see a change in Crony Capitalism, gotta vote these dudes out, set term and contribution limits and close the Citizens United loophole.

Depends on what you mean by the "best"

What's the alternative?

The alternative has to be democratic socialism, similar to Sweden. There hasn’t been a country like America to try socialism, we have everything here to make it succeed even better than it does in Sweden. **** once everything becomes automated and millions of people are out of the job people will be clamouring for living wages and minimum income

100% not. The illusion of inclusion and participation result in what you were asking me if I was saying. As we (African/black folks) are now, we are simply dealing with being unrepresented and having no voice. Always been that way. And even when trying to correct or change, we fall back into the tactics and rhetoric given to us by them! Truly crazy. Alternative is to detach and act in the same manner towards the people who constructed all of this as they do towards you. Start building for ourselves. Chinese (may be all Asian people) have the lowest voter turn out among the different racial groups, but look at how much power they have. You can thrive as a Chinese person here without even knowing how to speak English.

It's like a bully beating you up everyday no matter what, and you're looking to the bully for solutions on how to overcome him. He's actually providing you "solutions" to help your problem with him, only he knows that as long as you follow his advice he will always be able to bully you. That's why he offered it. lol...

Then another person said capitalism started going bad when corporations...... Bad for who? It'll always be relative. Ask the ruling elite on their thoughts regarding this form of capitalism. It'll be incredibly positive and supportive.

The results of the survey are difficult to interpret, pollsters noted. Capitalism can mean different things to different people, and the newest generation of voters is frustrated with the status quo, broadly speaking.

"They're not rejecting the concept," Della Volpe said. "The way in which capitalism is practiced today, in the minds of young people — that's what they're rejecting."

Capitalism is fine. Unfettered capitalism is not.

Socialism never works. Look at what's happening in Venezuela. Forced two day workweeks to save energy, protests erupt. All that damn oil and they still can't run a country.

How do these idiots mishandle da windfall of oil they have

The sentiment is avoid Venezuela like the plague. Actually, you'd make a solid return just shorting any Venezuela securities.

The reason we need capitalism is because our genetic nature is to do absolutely the minimum necessary to survive.

There are a few hundred thousand humans that are truly doing real work (e.g., geniuses advancing human/world capabilities in science, etc).

The reason we need capitalism is as simple as rewarding a dog with treats for obeying and having good behavior. Eventually, the treat isn't even necessary.

That is the goal of capitalism. Give people purpose. Give them that treat.

The problem is that 1% of people don't abide by the rules of the game. They either already have treats or are mentally handicapped and cannot be a part of the system.

Nature would of weeded them out (like it used to in the past). However, now we are in this weird enlighted but not enlighted phase of humanity where we truly are realizing what we need is less treat based behavior and more safety nets for the bottom 1% and more protection from the top 1%

A shining example of the true intelligence of the millennial generation:

Shkreli vs. 18yo

Can I get cliffs or a more specific time to watch the video, I just don't have an hour and a half to devote to that pompous individual.

^ First few and last few minutes are good. You can jump around and you'll mostly hear a lot of moronic talking from the kid.

Shkreli actually comes off calm and rational here, imo.

Yea, capitalism will always devolve into a bespoke form of fascism or socialism depending on the locality due to human nature. I.e. those in power will never cede it. Only technological innovation could create a trustless system of organizing human labor, as dystopian as that sounds.

What's the alternative?

localized, voluntaryism-based p2p economy powered by decentralized money

I definitely don't deny that.

I've been posting his other videos about financial modeling/teaching finance in the Stock Market topic. They've been very helpful and insightful.
