In Your Opinion What Cities Have Been Fashion Trend Setters and Fresh On A Consistent Basis?

Back in '06 I use to disagree with ninjahood and a few others who said the internet was straight up blurring the lines of individual/regional fashion style. 10 years later they're pretty much right.

At this point I can't call even my city being consistent with trends. We still got our own style but I aint seen a whole lot of new stuff. I see a lot of ppl dressing like this and that rapper from the south or the other way around.

So I'd say it use to be NYC, London, etc. Now it's mostly a famous individual like Kanye who then influences ppl via the internet.

Ian Connor had a hand with bringing Raf to urban demographics too

Detroit. All the rappers wanna wear the Cartier frames when we started that **** in 04.

Nah, maybe because you're getting your information from the Web.

But I can definitely if someone is from DC, Philly or Jersey by the way they dress.

Regional fashion still exists.

The Web just may have made the world smaller for you as an individual.

How exactly can you tell if someone is from DC? I live here and I no longer can tell.

Articulate it for me please

I'm from New York, so there's people from other cities here all the time. You start to notice patterns in the way certain people dress or style their clothes.

Like cuffs in the jeans, creases in the jeans, over sized hats, furs, minks, sunglasses, sneakers, hats, hair styles etc... "trends"

DC folks, as a whole, don't do that jean cuff stuff man.

If a bus full of DC dudes came to NY and were walking around Times Square, you mean to tell me you would know they are DC dudes?

Based on what SPECIFICALLY?

Still baffles me how long it took for slim/skinny pants to catch on in the US. Baggy clothes was never really a thing here. At least not that I can remember, maybe before my time.

DC always wore slimmer, but not THIS SLIM, jeans than other cities.

Tighter around the ankles than those big stupid jeans dudes from NY used to wear

Baggy jeans was more of a rebellious act. It last from like 92-2007. The era was not as long as people are lead to believe.

I would know they weren't from New York at the least.

THEN, what region they were from by their style.

You can always spot a DMV cat a mile away, they're so conflicted.

They don't know if they wanna be NY cats or southern cats, they usually overdo it with stuff we wouldn't wear.

Kid you not, New Yorkers are conditioned to be hyper-vigilante and perceptive.

I always thought it was stupid, but out-of-towners used to get beat up if they wondered into the hood, any hood, and in any borough.

It had to do with the drug game, people couldn't tell if you were police, or a robber.

In fact, we know who's from a different borough by the way they dress.

Ain't no more trendsetting left though. Everything is full circle, honestly.
Trend is something that's popular for the moment.

"Bell bottoms" can be a trend again.

Trendsetting is the act of making something popular, to the point it's a trend.

Who started the whole leather pants / shirts thing ? I gotta know so i know to never visit.

Leather joggers had a good run thanks to ye

But the VIM sweatsuits with the leather elbows and knees were basura

I don't think leather joggers even lasted a year and half. Joggers in general are pretty wack. They look so childish
