NT: Do You Live in a Bubble?

I got 18

You got 18 points.

The higher your score, the thinner your bubble. The lower, the more insulated you might be from mainstream American culture.

See below for scores Charles Murray would expect you to get based on the following descriptions.

48–99: A lifelong resident of a working-class neighborhood with average television and movie going habits. Typical: 77.

42–100: A first-generation middle-class person with working-class parents and average television and movie going habits. Typical: 66.

11–80: A first-generation upper-middle-class person with middle-class parents. Typical: 33.

0–43: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person who has made a point of getting out a lot. Typical: 9.

0–20: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person with the television and movie going habits of the upper middle class. Typical: 2.

Mom is a doctor.
Dad was a football player in PR.
And I currently work in the MTA

Don't know if that matters, but living in the bronx made me feel we was lower class

Looks like someone grew up well off. Care to share your thoughts on this quiz?

On a side note: To add more spice to this thread--Let's also include our professions. Would be interested to see what the socio-economical regressions are in relation to "Bubble" score.
I'm currently a Staff Analyst at a city agency.

What's odd is my parents were and still are blue collar. I think the television question may have threw off the score because I don't watch any of the shows listed.

Got 34 and I'm a realtor. Parents were both working class-to-middle class while I was growing up. Pops has moved up a bit since...

Scored a 20. Trust me, I'm not upper middle class and don't have a job.

I think that movie and TV lowered it. And I have no idea how many of neighbors are college educated

4 points. Word to Ben Wallace.

Ain't got time for any of that stuff. Fishing, Modern Family, Christian friends?

So that means my bubble is big?

LOL @ those chain restaurants. This survey wanted it to be one way... but it's the other way.

this mean you're soft and sheltered? :nerd:

I wouldn't go that far. I'm 33 years old at this point. Questions about where I grew up, what I watch on tv, and where I eat don't really say much. I don't eat at any of those chain restaurants, I watch msn/fox for TV, and I grew up with succesful parents who lived next to other succesful people. I don't fish, and could careless about the random questions. It was just stereotypes. I know both Jimmie johnsons I just like football so that stood out first. I know where Branson, MO is but Richard Branson is the first name that comes to mind. These kind of tests are joke. Next time I'll fill one out to determine how white I am...to come to the conclusion of soft and sheltered is just a snap judgement fueled by what the media tells people to think.
