Anyone listen to this stuff? Its been out for going on 6 years of awesomeness. A jumble of french house, hip hop/jazz/funk basslines, power vocals, instrumentals, 80s synthwave, 90s internet aesthetics, 80s/90s anime, video games, retro style, glitch art, and a general sentiment of nostalgia combined with poking fun at the failures of consumer capitalism. It also self satirizes itself and other genres need for overly pretentious descriptors and political messages.

Do it. At this point the difference between some vapor genres and older genres are negligible. Like if you played someone a Futurefunk track and a 90s French House track they'd be like its impossible to tell you one from the other.

The last couple videos posted, although super nice beats, aren't really vaporwave.

If you like the jazzy samples under breakbeats or whatever, Blazo is MANDATORY

And the thread is not just pure vaporwave but also its descendants and related genres
 
Great thread. I recently got introduced to this genre about 4 months ago and I love it. The music is just so damn smooth. I'll post some favorites when I get home later.
 
Saw that old McDonald's commercial that featured the Saint Pepsi MJ track a few weeks ago and been exploring since.
