It seems with all the brands these days and lines coming out, people hardly buy used clothing/shoes anymore. I've been "collecting shoes" since 1998. I have 80+ pairs mostly worn.

I recently went to this buy/sell/trade used kicks place about an hour away from me with 30 pairs. Some used, a few DS. I didn't expect to get much for the used ones, but I figured close to retail for the DS ones if not more. I had DS Grapes from 2006, DS Black/red 4's, DS Fire red 5's (2007), DS Steel 10's (2006), DS Infrared Air Max 1's (2010). The used ones were is decent wearable condition. I only got an offer for the Infrared AM 1's for $90!

I didn't even take it. I figured I could sell them on ebay for more. Started selling the used ones getting $20-75 each. A few of the DS ones for close to retail. I think my used collection is maybe worth $2,000 if that now. I probably spent close to $10,000 just building it.

It's all about limited releases now. Exclusivity is the only thing that holds value. If you're holding on to general releases in hopes to resell years from now to make some extra money DON'T wear them because they are going to be re-released, and re-re-release.

I know many can relate to this...

No because I keep and wear my ****. Been doing it since 95. You mean am 90s?? I'll take those for 60[emoji]128077[/emoji]

should've sold em from 2010-2012 when Jordans were popping.

You horded your kicks instead of selling/wearing them.

You get what you deserve.

This won't end well for you, OP...

Especially posting in General.

Word of advice: Take the L in stride and put your money in appreciating assets from now on.

Outside of a select very select few that really aren't worth the hassle of getting, shoes will lose value.

I've sold jerseys in eBay for decent prices when I don't have a use for them anymore, don't really sell anything else. Most stuff I pass on to family or the local mosque for distribution

 OP you need to put those DS pairs on stockx. Should be able to sell all your DS pairs for well over retail no problem.

Or just go to a consignment spot. eBay/trade shows obviously ain't for you, presentation is key.

I've cleaned out my closet damn near a decade ago. Still good to know I'm able to cop at reasonable prices if I want some of those shoes again.

But da Porsche b

First off...OP dunno how to hustle.

If i ever wanted to press da red button & liquidate my collection, id be able to re-coup nice cuz most of da **** i buy i always take into account re-sale value.

Second, we in da internet age b...between ebay, Craigslist , facebook groups, instagram, etc. There's a GIANT audience that would pay you more than your immediate local
Market.

You could still get rid your stuff it's just going to take much longer. The market crowd is so different compared to before, everyone's looking for the hype, designer stuff. A lot of shoes are retroing too which doesn't help.

I feel you dawg, but don't give up. They're just lowballing you.

The game was over once that "Fukijama" episode of Entourage aired in season three ...2006-2009 marked an end of an era.

Fake sneakerhead models,  fake hipsters in flannel and atrocious mock smart glasses, the burgeoning of two-bit resellers, and their ridiculous prices...

Now people surfing that reseller wave about to wipe out.

I mean I support Supreme, but

@ anyone paying double or triple the retail.

...hype is like stocks, you gotta know when you pull out.

OP should have seen that coming around the time JB started dropping retros with "nike air" and other footwear brands got very involved in the collab game.

Considering the volume of sneakers that has been released within the last 2-3 years (gr and exclusives), as well as the prevalence of fakes (that is tolerated and has become a real option for many), folks are simply not gonna bother dropping 2-3 times retail on 10-year-old kicks that may or may not be wearable.
