I have some tapered jeans however I want the leg opening smaller. All the DIY I see on YouTube seem to have them just create a new seam when tapering. The jeans I have are perfect on the thigh and knee. I just want to make the leg opening smaller. Should I just pin from the spot in the picture and sew from there?View media item 2029969

start at the leg opening and bring you seam up, gradually fading into the the part of the part of the pant where you don't want to alter

i like to take a pair of pants that I like the fit of and use those to trace a guide

you could pin them while your wearing them and then take them off and connect the dots and create your guide line like that

Thanks bro! So pretty much merge it?

I have a tailor that will taper from the ineam to protect selvedge for like 5$ a pair.

Doesn't make sense to DIY at those prices... Search around.

sure it does, you can learn to do something on your own instead of paying for it regardless of the price, there is 0 risks with a project like this.

@ OP, yeah, you want to take your new seam and gradually merge it into the original wherever you want it to stop.

My tailor takes my jeans in from mid thigh down to the hem. I request a hem opening of 6 inches at the hem. Charges 20 bucks per pant. He's amazing and used to be a tailor in downtown Chicago for Barneys I believe.
