NT's Hottest MCs in the Game

Apparently J cole's FHD 2014 had the third most streams of any hiphop album THIS year.... Should this not be used as an indicator of being hot? When ****** two year old albums are outperforming peoples new projects i think it's safe to say that means you are still having a HUGE impact on rap

Desiigner Album that NOBODY listened too is actually on the top 50 streams of the year also....

some other discussed artist in here coincidentally aren't to be found on here.... and they Just like him dropped free projects that were also on streaming services. For the "impact" on the culture there seems to be a pretty big lack of interest in those projects, and a lot of interest in the music of the guy nobody listens too

but Let me guess the amount of times someone checks for your project or songs isn't a good indicator of hotness either??

i mean the only reason j cole wasn't on the list was because his project came out after

and no i don't think old projects should mean you're hotter than new artists

after 12 months if a project is still getting played then it's just a lasting/classic project to some people...the project ain't still actively hot

Em is up there too is he hot because of it...no that's a classic to some people and people are gonna bump it for years to come

y'all getting so caught up in the "hot" metric that you're downgrading the status of kendrick and cole

they're really above trying to force them into this discussion with old albums and throwaways...just wait for them to come out with a real album  just because a new artist who's more active is hotter then them right now doesn't really mean anything

cole dropped and although his project was subpar IMO he still got the respect as the heavyweight he is

as far as the comparison to the Uzi type rappers...again this is why I've been saying that mixtape apps should be accounted for in these things because that's how most people listen to those type of artists music...if you just go by traditional outlets their presence is largely diminished

not saying that any of their projects are in that 300 million stream range tho, i'm not going across each platform and adding me up...i know on spinrilla Uzi usually gets a couple mill streams

Hot ultimately means people are checking for your music, they are invested in the artist.... so if fans (ESPECIALLY in 2016 where most albums don't last past two weeks in most people's rotations) are still listening to your old project rather than listening to countless others who have released new music i think that is one of the strongest sentiments possible.

also I don't think it's a reach to say that the amount of people using Apple Music, Spotify, & Tidal & Youtube (which is accounted for in streaming numbers) clearly have a much larger number of users than these mixtape sites, and i think it's safe to say artist are getting WAY more spins on these sites than a mixtape app (& numbers show that). Search any song title and the first links are gonna be Youtube, Itunes & streaming links.

With that said Desiigner is in the top 50 of this year, other guys who are on that "hottest Mc's list are not despite their projects also being on the same platforms for streaming. This is just more tangible proof stating that some of these artist aren't as hot as people believe.

Because looking at the rest of the List there's notable entries from others who are considered "Hot" and it makes sense

Has anybody ever met someone that listened to the designer tape? I'm literally the only person I know and my circle is a circle of music junkies.

Outside of people on NT that wanted to see what's up with it, nope. I can definitely believe real tangible people listened to Panda though.

That's the weird thing, if the beats were dope, him being such a Shang Tsung clone wouldn't be harped on so much, but with all the resources he has being linked to Kanye West, there's some very poor beats on there

Lowkey he might be in a better position if he took Ye's co-sign without signing and just went on an organic run by himself this summer

Panda boy and "run"

That ***** got the machine behind him....and can't get another organic hit.

Lil Yachty, 21 Savage and Uzi done passed designer up. All make better music with the exception of Yachty.

Only people that rock with Panda boy is trynafeelmink trynafeelmink ....aka Mr. "I find it funny how"/Defend everything NYC at all cost, and @MrWavez....who doesn't even like or listen to desiigner. Just hates Future

Panda was organic on its own. Once Ye/Def Jam/Machine got hold of it......it turned into something else.

I'll give u this, that's one person glizzy and lucci are better than

I thought this thread was about NT'ers who are actually MC's. I was disappointed.

NOWWWWW the convo suddenly turns into quality of the music, when there's a ***** lapping that entire Lane in every category.

I'm just throwing streamed albums out there since i was told that traditional sales don't matter, Grammy's, Appearances, etc etc. I was told that Streaming numbers are really what's indicative up what the youth is listening to they said....... Okay i pull up the single streaming charts to see that as of Dec 2016 Desiigner's Panda & Timmy turner are still holding spots in the top 40 of that list.... But But nobody listened to his project like that..... Pulls up year total for album streams, He's in the top 50 also..... the other "HOT" ****** ain't listed.

****** don't have a leg to stand on other than the anger they have that a variant future is still WAY more successful this year than their favorite colored dread *****

This like the Cats who say someone is an Elite shooter, meanwhile the ***** shooting 33% from the floor, same ****** like nah the eye test tho, i know what i see

But keep telling me how ****** who have had their old albums streamed a billion times in the past year belong lower on a list of "Hottest" than the ***** who got 10 mil plays on spinrilla.

10 Million Plays on your whole tape consistently every time you drop > Millions of Streams on two songs with no follow up since June

a consistent back catalog is gonna do more for you than a hit song and a half every time

Even with them stream numbers u gotta be weary of em. Remember bow wow was talking about 4 million stream in a day... labels used to buy whole albums I know they found a way to manipulate the streams. Just like Wavy been weary of gates #s for months .

Designer must get Hella love in NY because I swear I've asked that question on all types of sites and social media and nobody listened to that ****. I'm literally the only person. My Lil bro who is the biggest uzi and a boogie fan laughed when I asked him, NY must be holding son down.

the songs AS OF TODAY are still being listened too and still streaming in millions of plays... a Strong back catalog would matter if we weren't talking about Artist like Uzi, 21 & Yachty, there's no back strong catalog with any of these ******.

Dropped one project from June and songs from that project is still being listened to and played in December..... Since when was making a song that can last with the consumer looked at as a bad thing.

You ever heard of "curated" playlists?

They put the songs they want to succeed on those weekly/daily playlists.

Scroll to the "What if we took away streaming?" where Drake (who was #1 for 15 weeks at this point) wasn't #1 since April on the non streaming charts.

http://www.digitalspy.com/music/fea...ing-have-ruined-the-charts-forever-heres-why/

Granted, he's still Drake so he'd still be successful (and Panda was already a buzzing hit too)...but it's easy to solidify a songs position and portray this super dominance when a large portion of the audience treats those playlists like the radio.

I've noticed a lot of new artists popping up on those playlists too. 6LACK Perkys Calling freestyle was everywhere on Apple Music when you went to hip hop radio shuffle this summer and now when you go to A-List hip hop playlist. His album straight though. So it worked.

It's a ridiculous idea now and it was ridiculous then, son tried to say that Billboard 3's were scewed for Kevin Gates.... Of all the rappers in this day & age, Kevin Gates was the one who the label decided to cook #'s for.

Let's go by the idea that these #'s are fixed, why would they do this for Desiigner but not the other three ****** who are also signed to Majors and have strong ties in the industry.

you can't out troll me *****

Trolling is coming in with no information and just talking out your *** because you can, all i'm doing is presenting facts that are the complete opposite of what a troll told me.

Also are you telling me Uzi, 21 or Yachty haven't benifited from these curated playlist?? Desiigner has a Drake like marketing budget behind him or something? All these ****** in the same lane, got the same platforms, have strong ties in music, only one of them got a #1 song in the country, a 4X platinum single, 1 Gold single & several mainstream media looks.

and Before you try & tell me how none of those stats matter.. i'll direct you to your Highlighted Hero Yachty

“I’m sure Mr. Murda Mooks would kill me in a rap battle … but ask him to seem in streams/sales/or on the charts. It’s easy to write a verse but how easy is it to make a stamp on the culture?”

By his definition of making a "Stamp On the culture" How has Desiigner not made a bigger impact.

Sometimes "the label" isn't the only major player behind an artist.

Okay Granted, my point still remains that it's not like we're comparing a unsigned artist with no management to a well established Vet on a major. All of these guys are pretty much in the same point of their careers, All have solid backing & management behind them, but when those charts disprove their narratives.... suddenly it becomes Billboard cooking the #'s for certain artist.
