more like micky better dip into some of his Carnival cruise revenue and make it happen like the cavs did. do what u gotta do but keep the team together. we were definitely onto something this year

Word, dude can definitely afford to dip into the tax a bit

Especially for a talent like Hassan

Got a salary cap doe, Gilbert was able to flourish because most of it was under cap holds... We got bigger problems

patiently waiting for the good news about whiteside like

giphy.gif

edit: dunno if yall have heard, but theres also been some quiet talk about jamal crawford having a good interest in joining the heat. that would be EXCELLENT! i like him behind wade off the bench. itll keep the offense moving even when the b squad is on the floor

Congrats heats fans, I take back everything I said about the heats future in the offseason thread. Great signing.

Man, anyone who has had anything to say about our current contracts (Dragic, Bosh) should be able to appreciate it a little more considering FA going forward

Hope we can wrap up Wade and some other's soon.

Glad we could get this White situation over with before SL

So now that Whiteside is signed for $24.5 million and we only had $40 million in cap space, how can we resign Wade for anything more then $16 million? Not only that, we need some proven role players like a Jamal Crawford, a Luol Deng, or a Ryan Anderson... And we have six roster spots left to fill out, with what? Veteran minimums?

Say if Wade resigns for $15-$16 million, that would mean Wade in his whoooole entire career here in Miami has never been the highest paid player in any given season.

Whiteside - $24.5 mil
Bosh - $23.7 mil
Dragic - $17.3 mil

Wade would be the 4th highest paid player on the team in 2016/2017. Do you guys think that is fair? If he leaves and I don't blame him at this point, that would leave the franchise in shambles. In all the "Pat Riley we trust" accolades, this would be one of his biggest let downs in franchise history, and wouldn't sit well with the hardcore fan base and make-up of the team.

Its all speculation at this point but I cant see how they can make anything happen without trading Dragic, or Bosh retiring anytime soon, and that definitely isn't happening.

Sometimes in order to gain something you have to lose something...

ESPN wrote a fantastic piece about what I'm talking about this morning. http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/120737/what-is-dwyane-wades-loyalty-worth

Now if we can somehow trade Dragic and McRoberts that alone would save us upwards of $24mil a year plus the $16 mil we have now after signing Whiteside. Pay Wade his $20 mil and get players like Ryan Anderson, Deng, and JCrawford and we would instantly be a top 2 Eastern Conference team if Bosh can stay healthy.

Those are all strong possibilities, so hopefully Pat has something up his sleeve.

Why would we trade dragic who just basically won is a couple games in the playoffs with performances? A starting 5 of dragic wade Winslow bosh and whiteside is already top 2 in the conference and we saw that this year how without our best 2 players we were 1 win away from the ECF.

agreed with this notion. dont break up the team like that. mcroberts needed to go 2 years ago. unload him off the books. if we lose deng, we lose deng. i just think we need to hit that lux tax personally. go get jamal or anderson or both. pay wade.

The heat can't go over the cap to sign those guys. Even if they traded Mcbob, they won't have the space to keep Wade and sign vets that are as good as Crawford and Anderson.

So I'm guessing you didn't read the article or my first post I posted?

Say if we keep Dragic and his $17.3mil dollar contract, do you really think Wade is going to take $15mil a year to be the 4th highest paid player on the team? Do you think Dragic's and I'm quoting you "couple of good playoff performances" outweighs DWade and his solid numbers all throughout last season? And going by your lead, DWades performance in game 6 versus the Bobcats saved us from going home early.

All I'm saying is, we have $16 million left in cap space. Wade deserves all of that plus an extra $3mil on top of that. How can we afford to pay Wade what he wants and sign some strong pieces like Anderson, Deng, and Crawford? Also, we're banking on Bosh being healthy next season without any hiccups.

The numbers aren't working to keep everyone happy. And as a "heat fan" I would hope you would agree to sacrifice Dragic for DWade.

I mean...?

Exactly!

Letting go of McRoberts does nothing for the cap space but give us our mid-level exception back to use on a player like Jamal Crawford. The team has to get rid of Dragic or bank on Bosh retiring to have money to resign Wade for $20 mil, still keep Dragic, and sign a Ryan Anderson.

Giving up these 2:

Dragic
McRoberts

for

Wade
Anderson
Crawford

To me this is a no brainer. Mickey is one not to go over the cap space a pay a "luxury-tax" and we all know that. Remember keeping Dragic at this point almost hurts or chances of keeping Wade satisfied.

this is why i said we need to dip into the luxury tax. otherwise we have the same team as last year minus deng and possibly minus tyler and bosh. micky need to come out the pockets. the money he makes per month from carnival will more than cover what we need.

its extremely easy to say "just come out the pockets for the luxury tax, no big deal" when it's not your money

its extremely easy to say "just come out the pockets for the luxury tax, no big deal" when it's not your money
everything is easy to say. but the fact of the matter is, unless u want the same team minus 1 possibly 2 from last year...time to dip into the reserve money. it is what it is. unless u think FA gonna all just sign here for free. u have whiteside with a max. wade wanting a max or near max. dragic making way too much. bosh making near max and not even playing so thats just money thrown out the window. exactly how will u snag some of this FA talent without using extra cash?

it really comes down to does micky want to win that badly. does he want the heat to be successful at the cost of dipping even further into his own pocket? its simple. if he does...then he does it. if he doesn't see the risk/reward... then he wont. but... lets not act like he cant afford it when he makes money hand over fist with carnival and his other ventures.
