OFFICIAL 2016 @MiamiHEAT SEASON THREAD::::

DA:

Utah agrees to terms with Joe Johnson on a two-year, $22 million deal, per league source.
we lost joe johnson? smfh its getting ugly fast on the heat. we're about to lose tyler johnson, we're losing joe johnson, we're losing bosh most likely, we're probably losing deng. WHAT. THE. ****. We'll have a starting 5 and 2 towel boys to play with."

Now you see my point in resigning Whiteside to a massive max contract and having Dragic on the team for $17mil and Bosh sitting in on the bench in a 3 piece suit making $23.7 million dollars but Wade was only offered $10mil

Wade at this point is as good as gone. :smh:

The way luxury tax works in the NBA is, owners have to come out of pocket using their own money to pay those fees. They don't use the excess money that the organization has because when the NBA does auditing, the league would fine that owner or possibly remove him from the NBA. So there for Mickey has to pay $10mil plus plus interest out of his own personal bank account just for Wade to stay.

There is no "in Pat Riley I trust" over here. This situation we're in is totally screwed up. We have Whiteside but most likely no Wade and possibly no Bosh... That can't be the blueprint.

whiteside hasnt officially signed yet though right? you think the contract will be less up front go up each year to keep wade? and is there a max % that the yearly salary can go up? example.. like if we paid whiteside 15mill for his first year can it jump $22mill or is there a % that we have to keep?

The CBA doesn't allow you to effectively flip the contract and work backwards.

Front-loading a contract in the NBA really only works when you can start out paying a player more than they could otherwise get, allowing the salary to work its way down towards what the player is "actually worth". Once a player starts hitting the maximum allowable threshold, front-loading pretty much ceases to work since it costs the player so much.

When LeBron James was with the Heat his contract only increased to about a million dollars a year and that's LeBron James not Hassan Whiteside.

The thing that the makes the NFLPA better then the NBAPA is that in the NFL, signing bonuses can be paid upfront in its entirety. In the NBA there really isn't a "signing bonus" and if they do add it into the contract it's divided into the life of the contract.

I made a mistake earlier and said the Heat have $16mil left in cap space, well they actually have $19mil. If they still plan on signing Durant and retaining DWade, they have to trade Dragic. If they want to sign Wade and keep Dragic without getting Durant, they have to pay Wade a prorated deal, and give him the whole $19mil in cap space, and prorate it next year as the cap will go up another $13mil from this year. But by doing that gives us the same team we had last year but worst (no; Deng, JJohnson, TJohnson, Green, Stat, and coach Fizdale). As I said all year, having Dragic on the team really hurts our salary cap. He gets paid $5mil more then Steph Curry. Think about that...

There's no excuses now right?

‏@theScore:
The Lakers have reportedly reached an agreement with Luol Deng on a 4-year, $72M deal. http://thesco.re/29aBpSO

Pretty big loss and I really liked Deng these last few seasons but if it means we'll have the spacve to sign Wade,I don't even mind

The heat only have bird rights on Tyler Johnson so the luxury tax is not really a big deal. It would be hard for them to get to that point.

Now y'all see these guys aren't playing around. Everybody wants to get paid. Dudes will play for the Lakers or in Utah if the money is right. If you give Wade 20 mil and keep Dragic, you can't add anybody else.

There's 20 mil in cap room right now. Only 5 players on the roster. Screwed.

Wade is laughing at the heat on snapchat

oh i never disagreed with your point. ive been saying we need to dip into the luxury tax as soon as whiteside took the max. we have pretty much no bench right now. its either dip into luxury tax or essentially tank this season. thats the bottom line

Relax guys. Wade isn't going anywhere.
where is our bench tho? all we got left really is green and stat, mcroberts, wright, richardson. and theres been no word on whether were keeping anyone mentioned. i dunno what their contract situations are, but.... if this is our bench, we're screwed

The numbers say otherwise. How do you see this happening? Or can you atleast break it down?
There's nothing to break down really bro. We just gotta let stuff play out. **** can change in a matter of seconds. Riley and those guys who have time and time again found a way to make.moves with the salary cap wouldn't have came.into.the off season with no plan and for.**** just to fall apart like this. I trust them to make something happen.

And also lets not forget all these talks about wade talking about contracts negations have came from BRIAN WINDHORTS.

So this is how I keep up with all the HEAT/NBA salary caps.

http://heathoops.com/team-salary/

It seems the HEAT prefer to give Wade a 1yr 18M contract. Everyone is offering him 1yr 20M. Real chance he might leave guys.

Where did you see the Heat are offering Wade $18mil?

And if they're, say good by to any other free agents. It's all vet minimums and D-Leaguers after that...

I think because of his age and everything, Wade wants one last contract to satisfy his needs before he retires in 2-3 years. He deserves it! He can't keep playing on a 1 year salary, that's just not fair to him.

Got it from this salary cap whiz. It's all they have left to give him.

If it is unsuccessful in its pursuit of Kevin Durant, Heat currently has $18.9M in cap room left for Dwyane Wade (incl. Johnson and Weber).

With an $18.9M starting salary, Heat could pay Wade: (i) $39.2M over 2 years, (ii) $61.0M over 3 years, or (iii) $84.2M over 4 years.
