OFFICIAL 2016 @MiamiHEAT SEASON THREAD::::

Man...I feel for Wade. On one hand he really loves the Heat and has no intentions of leaving. But on the other hand I'm sure he's seeing how much power LeBron and KD have, and he knows that in the end--the players are his real family. Micky and Riley work for the League, not the NBAPA. Their number 1 priority is to get the most with the least. I would not fault him one bit for leaving. He deserves to get paid. BUT how could he leave the young guys behind? Winslow, Richardson, TJ, Whiteside? Not to mention an ailing Bosh...not being able to see his triumphant return?

I'm convoluted just thinking about it. But I think he ultimately does come back. The bond he has with the bro's may help ease the sting a bit.

Dwyane Wade was getting paid and decided to opt out to figure out numbers for the Big 3 but LeBron left him. Riley didn't force him to opt out, that was LeBron's doing but that part is going to get forgotten. Wadehad his money but got duped by his friend. It's hard to sympathize with him when he made a bad business move.

But for a guy of DWades caliber is it really that difficult to give him back the same contract he opted out?

And for Wade to opt out at that time and take less money was him helping the organization resign Haslem, get Luol Deng, and give Bosh the max. Why is that getting over looked? Wade has never been the highest paid player on this team EVER! Can't he get his backend pay he sacrificed for this team since 2007?

If fans and the organization don't/can't appreciate all he has done, then maybe we don't deserve for him to play here. To bad he doesn't have many options out there because I'd love for him to goto a true contender...

That's not what happened. Wade opted out for Bron. Remember Bosh getting the max was a panic move after Bron left us high and dry. Bosh was on his way to Houston.

And all keep in mind this is 2013 Wade we're talking about. Restricted minutes and restricted games Wade. His market value was way below 21 million. He gambled and iRiley tried to use that against him.

Wade was never the highest paid player at his choosing. He didn't take the full max in 07/08 because he was plotting out the Big 3. Remember they all took a 3 year deal. He didn't get what he was owed in 10 to leave money on table for Haslem. All of this is admirable.

But he has to pick one side over the ither: either he never wants to get knocked out in the 1st round ever again or he wants to cash out and leave the team no room to build a contender. That's the main issue.

The Heat would surely love to give Wade every last penny he wants in theory, but paying him what he’s seeking would present significant challenges in practice.

The team currently has $18.9 million of cap space. With that, it could build out a potential three-year, $61 million contract (or even a four-year, $84 million deal).

But, if you were Pat Riley, would you give it to him?

On the surface, the answer is undoubtedly yes. Without hesitation. He rightfully deserves far more than just that.

Underneath that surface, however, lies a bunch of serious problems for the Heat if they do.
An excerpt from a fantastic article about the Wade-Heat dilemma.

Wade should take this offer.

$20 mill/year is fair considering his age and the fact that Dirk just re-signed for the same amount in Dallas.

This is a hard place to be in as a fan of the HEAT and Wade (the two pretty much go hand in hand)

I do see where Wade is coming from and he's earned for all he has done for the city, fans & franchise. But if we do pay him the money he wants, then we turn into the Lakers the last couple of season with Kobe with no chance of winning. He is our version of Kobe, where he represents the face of the franchise.

With that given said, I wouldn't be able to sleep right seeing Wade in a different uniform, it would be brutal and just wouldn't be right...

no. this isnt the lakers situation. we have 3 max/near max players. we dished out ridiculous contracts and thats whats hurting us now. dragic is on a $90m contract. bosh on 118m. whiteside on 98m. now we've had the REST of our key players stolen by other teams. and wade is still producing at a high level. we chose not to dip into luxury tax... now we're stuck in a really bad situation. we have enough to pay the big contracts, and nothing else. we only have enough pennies to keep the END of the bench here.

like i said before, its either luxury tax or tank the season. and even when the cap goes up again (next year i believe) that still would give us only a LITTLE bit of wiggle room. in short, unless bosh retires, we're screwed for money. and IF bosh retires... we're screwed at the 4 position.

If Wade leaves....

It's going to be glorious to see the meltdown.

I fully expected this season to be a wash once everyone and their mom was getting signed to 70 million dollar contracts. Our best case scenario always revolved around Bosh's health. I unfortunately don't think the 3rd time will be the charm for this bloodclot thing and that's bound to come up at some point during the season.

If Wade walks, they need to resign Tyler and then fill out the roster with a bunch of 1 year deals. If Bosh goes down again, start fielding trade offers for Dragic. Go into next season with over 45 million in cap space and take your chance at Russ & Blake.

I believe if Bosh goes down again, there is a clause that allows us to take his contract off the books. Or we get 10 million of it back from insurance or something like that.

I do know that if the doctors don't clear him, and he doesn't play for a calendar year (February would make a year since he's played), we can wipe his contract off the books entirely. His contract then becomes fully guaranteed by the NBA and not the Miami Heat.

Bosh will not play if Wade leaves, thus the heat have will have a lot of money and 1st round pick in a great draft heading into the '17 offseason

We messed around and it bit us this time. Any franchise players coming out of college this next year?
