Agreed, definitely a low point in South FL sports history. The Fernandez news is the absolute worst. This is when we find out who the true fans are though. Looking forward to attending more heat games this year due to affordable pricing

I feel bad for Bosh but kinda glad it's over (For the most part)

Hope Bosh finds some peace that he can live with

So sad that a good guy like Bosh is handed this terrible hand. I wish him the best. Hopefully, he has the time to pursue some of his many other endeavors now.

We need to move on though.

This could be a dark era coming up for the Heat.

But for what we got to experience since we pretty much drafted Wade until now (minus the 15 win season), sign me up for that any day! We made history...

Truthfully think these guys will play the whole season with a chip on their shoulder with everyone already counting them out

HEAT add full-time shooting coach for first time.

At a time it might be needed most, the Miami Heat  for the first time in their 29 seasons have hired a full-time shooting coach.

Rob Fodor, known as "The Shooting Guy," has been added to Erik Spoelstra's reshuffled staff, having previously worked with Spoelstra at Spoelstra's youth basketball academy.

"As talented as anybody I've ever seen in that space, a really unique basketball mind," Spoelstra said. "I've known Rob for going back to when I was an assistant coach working with [former Heat guard] Mike James. That's how I got to know Rob. And he worked with Mike, and Mike was the player I was in charge of developing, so I had to figure who he was spending his evenings with. And I was really impressed with that work.

"He's worked with my basketball academy for a long time. I think he's a great, unique addition to our staff. It gives us versatility."

Fodor has had a South Florida presence, working with former Heat players Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway, South Florida NBA  product Steve Blake, as well as working with the Heat's former WNBA affiliate, the Miami Sol.

The Heat are working to upgrade the shooting of several of their players, most notably 2015 first-round pick Justise Winslow, placing an emphasis on shooting to improve spacing.

The Heat previously have had assistant coaches who have focused on upgrading shooting, with Spoelstra having served in such a role while an assistant coach, and with Chris Quinn having taken on that assignment the past two years.

Winslow improves with help off a shooting coach;

The Heat is very encouraged by the progress Justise Winslow has made while working with a shooting specialist this summer. One Heat staffer said his stroke, release and rhythm are looking a lot better.

“You will see a major difference; he can be a special player,” that person said.

Winslow declined to identify the shooting coach but said he is “pretty pleased” with the results and that he’s working on his jumper during the early mornings and late at night.

The coach has made mechanical changes to his stroke, Winslow said: “Just smoothing things out. I am pretty confident. I like the way it’s going.”

You guys have said it all, definitely a hard off season and especially tough time right now for South Florida sports.

On the flip side like heirjordan said, hopefully the games will be cheaper. This team will still be fun to watch, but still a rebuilding year

Just ordered the NBA Team Pass becasue I'm no longer local. Looking forward to still being able to watch and support the squad. So excited to see how this new look Heat develop.

Also glad to see the bang-wagon guys fall off and become over night haters, doubters, and non-believers. Guys calling for Riley's head for offering Wade a fair deal and preventing Bosh from killing himself out on the court.

Only makes it that much sweeter to see this team and organization build another winner.

1st pre-season game on Tuesday in D.C., I should be in the building. Can't wait.

NBA is byke!! LETS GO HEAT!!

Spot on and exactly why we never waver in faith Heat Family!

HEATNATION!

The energy was stellar tonight. A great start to building a good foundation. James Johnson is an interesting mix into things as well. He's long and has a good range around the rim defensively.

We all gonna need to be in here and show as much support as possible.. wouldnt be surprised if dragic wants to leave to a veteran team.. tickets gonna be cheap as hell vs the blazers

Was at the game last night and man.... The D.C. crowd and fans have nothing on Heat nation. It's just something about American Airlines Arena you can't replace. I got there early because I work right in the downtown D.C. area and it was great to see Udonis Haslem and Justise out there early getting up shots.

I actually got some really good seats for the $13 a piece and was right behind the Heat bench. Justise Winslow was all business out there. Very serious at all times and with a stone face. Even ignored the kids begging for autographs.

Haslem does all the little things and is kinda like that one uncle who just gets s*** done and you appreciate the older you get. Does all the stuff no-one wants to do. Very appreciated and a great example for the younger guys.

Josh Richardson easily might be my favorite player on this squad. He was out there during the early shoot around and was just chopping it up becasue he still has on the knee brace. Then the buzzer sounds and he just picks up the ball and shoots a deep three without even jumping and nails it. SWISH... then he bellows out a "YEA" as if to say, "I still got it" and just walks up to the kids and signed autographs like nothing happened.

He keeps things light-hearted at all times and really supports his teammates success like no other. Even those on the fringe of making the team, he went out of his way to show them love. Overall, this is just a likeable team full of guys hungry to be great. But on to the actual game...

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

From the start it just looked like the Heat were moving at a different speed compared to the Wizards. Winslow did a little of everything. Scoring, defense, making plays... you name it.

Dion Waiters looked REALLY good. Very surprised at his play. He let the game to him and scored almost at will. His speed and quickness to the basket was great to watch. It might be a pipe dream, but If he can somehow give the Heat this type of play on a consistent basis they can be a very solid team. His play making was very good last night as shown by his 8 assist.

Luke Babbit's shooting was big was well. He's a liability on defense, BUT the way him and Ellington can stretch the floor should really open up the paint. But this team made made up for it last ight.

Dragic was Dragic. Very quick and aggressive. Looks to be in great shape and should start off a lot better than last season. And Whiteside... Whiteside was just a beast out there. Easily the best player on the court. He was moving very well and seemed to be everywhere. Still needs to work on his passing, but he did make his mid range jumpers so it kinda evened out. Overall a very well coached and athletic team.

P.S. Did ya'll see Briante almost catch a body out there?? He needs to make this team. His defense is ELITE!! Very pesky, quick and super athletic. A younger more athletic Pat Beverly.

Sorry I couldn't get better picks, but I was sick and hopped up on Absolut Vodka

Dion looked like the combo/point guard we always wanted Tyler/Rich to be, much rather him trying to facilitate than park in mid-range island. Given that it was preseason, still a good look. If we commit to ball movement, maybe he can mature in a non-isocentric setting for the first time (I don't even believe that lol)
