Egyptian Flight Missing

- There was a distress call from the aircraft - questioning how the pilot could've delivered the distress call if there was an explosion on-flight (radar indicates the plane's power was lost so if the plane suddenly loses power as a result of an explosion how does the distress call get made). If the plane had an emergency descent there would've been data showing its feet at this altitude, lower, lower, lower, etc. But power was just lost, yet there was a distress call.

French Authorities holding an emergency meeting already (plane identified as Egypt Air Flight MS804).

Correction - They're searching the area where they received the distress signal from right now, but they can't officially confirm the signal came from the plane. Just that they got a signal from that area, in the vicinity of where they thought the plane went down.

Another problem...

The plane disappeared - 2:30 p.m.
The signal distress call - 4:26 p.m.

How is that even possible? Were the communications systems turned off between 2:30-4:26?

Ian Lee, CNN - "The signal comes almost two hours after it disappeared ... [Egyptian VP said] this signal could possibly be from a boat in the Mediterranean Sea ... he also said it is possible that after the plane disappeared and if it crashed, that they'd potentially be able to receive a distress signal from the plane."

Uncertainty amok.

"There have been unconfirmed witness reports ... I want to stress unconfirmed ... four unconfirmed reports ... from merchants and others in the sea at the time, that there was an explosion seen in the air."

"We believe the distress call was an electronic distress call from the aircraft's beacons."

- Geoffrey Thomas, Editor-in-Chief at AirlineRatings.com who said he's been covering these situations for 40 years (via CNN moments ago).

Damn hope the explosion is not true, there is still a chance some people made it out of that boat according to CNN

Biggest fear is an inside job by airline crew. The elephant in the room is that while you can do rigorous background checks of all incoming employees, you can't prevent them from turning heel afterwards unless you monitor all their communications nonstop. :nerd:

There was plenty of boats in the area where the plane went missing. So I believe the reports of the captain's seeing a explosion in the sky. But those same boats were being used to help in a search and rescue and they still haven't found anything?

So sad. I imagine there were a lot of folks who just loved to travel on board... Paris to Cairo. Damn.

And you ask why I hate flyin.

Snakes and heights man.

I cant imagin the fall where you know its over but its not over yet :x

I'm taking an international flight across the world, and this just worsens my fear. :smh:

You'll be alright family, that's the safest way to travel. I hate flying as much as the next guy but it's safe.

I do my best to avoid being on boats though

I'm pretty sure that late last year another EgyptAir plane crashed and they arrested a mechanic because they suspected that he planted a bomb.

I think the mechanics cousin had ties to ISIS, too, but I don't remember hearing an update or anything.

I'm pretty sure that was a Russian airlines plane. And that flight originated in egypt, this one originated in Paris which makes it more concerning as you would think France has tighter controls than egypt does.

Yea, you're right I just looked into it.

It was an EgyptAir mechanic that was arrested but it was a Metrojet plane, which is Russian like you said.
