Get your skills up..the future economy is going to get rougher and rougher vol. Humans need not appl

I'll pour water on em.
Go for it.  I hear that tactic worked really well in the past:

Saw the phrase "penal transportation". Did not mean what I was thinking it meant.

What's UBI?

Universal Basic Income aka free money to cover basic expenses (shelter, food, or whatever)

Everyone on welfare? Talk about depressing...

Universal basic income is really just a negative tax.

Even Milton Friedman was a big supporter of it.

I would think you would be too.

If automation is "really gonna take over" than money wouldn't be long for this world either...

Whats da point of having money..what are u gonna spend it on...a robot to pay another robot that pays another robot?

I could see everything being free and then humans being charged to exist, like some distopian total recall type deal.

So basically everything is free and you just pay a life tax?

Sign me up.

We goin sizzler.

Da last thing i want is some heartless skynet robot determining that my existence is obsolete based on some kinds of algorithm it created itself, and just shutoff my oxygen or something...

Ya bugging on that.

OP mentioned singularity (when robots become self aware) and this video didn't even mention it...

By da time that happens we might already be doomed into slavery by our robotic overlords.

Nah I'm just playin **** that  I love technology but it's getting too real. I was thinking the other day what if there are already self aware computer systems out there that we're oblivious to.

Humans haven't been able to create fully aware AI (there are robots programmed to be aware in specific situations only) so we wouldn't even really know if it's hiding in plain sight, or if the computers are "waking up" other systems via internet.

Bout to watch T2 :smokin

Your smart phone/computer knows more about you than anyone.

If we create something sentient...wat will they think of their creator?

We can hardly simulate the conscious level of an ant. Most of the "AI" you've seen have been preprogrammed robotics with algorithms meant to handle the task they were giving specifically. Nothing more, nothing less.

We are so far away from self-aware machines you might as well not give it a second thought.

Do u think the human species......in its lifetime on earth..... are cabable of creating a sentient being?

Probably. At our level of consciousness tho? Not close imo.

We will destroy ourselves before that happens.

Yes. I think we might live to see it happen. A lot can happen in the next 50+ years.

I work in IT and a good amount of my projects involve automation and customer-self-service in order to decreases costs by hiring less low-skilled workers. Eventually machines will replace most low-skilled jobs and with the hike in minimum wage, it will only happen sooner.

The site below will tell you how likely your job will be replaced by AI:
http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2015/05/21/408234543/will-your-job-be-done-by-a-machine

According to that guide, my job/profession has just a 3.2% chance of automation.

I guess I'm kinda winning? Lol

Athletes and Sports Competitors have a

28.3%

chance of being automated.

How do we know this? Some aspects of a job are easier to automate than others. It all depends on the tasks. Look at the

orange bars to see how Athletes and Sports Competitors compare with other professions...
...so we could see something like a cyber steph curry or android anthony davis in the L?
