Chicago Expecting Holiday "Blood Bath"

Southside at night is ridiculous, you can feel it in the air. We did everything in a hurry from pumping gas, getting food and roll ups, just moving from a to b with no extra bs foolin around. It's not like they killing any and everybody, but you can get into some ish real quick for a number of stupid reasons.

:smh:

But we can't keep using the government/police excuse.

and im right there with you. when it comes to violence in the community it comes down the people. the choice to pick up a gun and let it fly, or to the choice to just chill and be cool. the access to guns is all gov't...they want guns in the streets...

sounds like people without hope. sounds like a population largely ignored by its government. sounds like the result of racial persecution and segregation, and poverty.

and it sounds like **** won't change until we as a society can come together and fix the real problems at hand, and treat one another as a fellow human being, and have the gov't enact policies that affect positive and progressive change for everyone within these borders. everyone.

....but that sounds like wishful thinking no? :\

Wishful thinking. Our culture generally puts more stock in economic and material wealth than in our people, communities, and relationships with one another. It's pathetic really.

this right here. yall watch that VICE report on the violence? they aren't killing themselves over food, or survival. its because he said she said. literally. to go into another group's area and antagonize in person or on social media, to get people riled up...to incite violence. that is where its at now.

they embrace the lifestyle of killing and violence and these are young brothers...sometimes too young to even fight a real war overseas. and sadly that is probably all they know. children regardless of race or religion are born innocent. these grown ups need to take a good look at their own communities and not just city hall, and demand change. i know that is easier said than done, and there maybe more obstacles than i can appreciate that hold back progress in these communities.

but when you got kids killing each other for the sake of...killing, well...police would be the least of my concern.

Soundin like Iraq
Iraq doesn't sound like that....stop

might as well...

this was a great vid. actually gave me some perspective that i never had before. and this is why i, or anyone, can solely place blame on this population. because there are so many factors that lead to this situation and sustain it. as such, there is no single solution.

i can't stand these rappers, who spit that violence over the mic, because it does come off as glorifying to me, and i compare it to Nas, who did grow up in poverty and in a time when NYC was a place u didn't want to live (see The Get Down on Netflix for an idea). Nas had violence and dark themes, but he didn't come off as glorifying or relishing in the street life, but rather he talked about what he came to understand how growing up in a rough environment shaped him, and used his music as a platform for critical commentary on politicians local and federal alike, and on the obstacles we face as blacks in white America.

but i get it. Duwop feels getting that Chief Keef money is his way out. i didn't expect him to cry at the end honestly, being an iraq war vet an all..but then again, seeing the world, and seeing real **** made him appreciate how tragic it is to see his own home plagued by an obscene level of violence.

not surprised CPD declined an interview. what is there to say that hasn't already been said?

You realize that conservatives use Chicago as the poster-child for the futility of gun control, right?

man.....psssh....eff that. After what i saw on 60 mins? id have da national tanks rollin thru.

Such a beautiful city with so much potential. Ive always wanted to visit Chicago and knowing what I know, I actually decided to buy tickets for my girl and I to visit in April. Im going with a semi scared mentality but again, im sure it has much to offer and great scenery plus food. Based on the statistics, i would def. Declare Marshall Law in Chicago and have it cleaned up. As a current Airmen in the USAF, I can honestly say im more scared of Chicago than deploying overseas.

As long you don't go out to the West Side or the Hundreds, you'll be alright.

I wish the mainstream media would have "breaking news" and cover every one of these murders extensively like they do when there is a mass shooting. You would think 780 annual murders would trump what amounts to less than half of 1 percent of the people shot to death in the United States via mass shootings. But hey, wtf do I know. The media seems to have different priorities.

I hope this is the year we approach this seriously and not just like hampsterdam or a white supremacist talking point.

Heartbreaking, most of the murdered and shooters just want to be kids.

might as well start a "murder channel" on TV...cuz that's marathon programming in Chi-town..

This. I went out there about three weeks ago. Stayed in the city and didn't have a problem.

Been debating a move out there after I'm done with school. I want to do community outreach or something up there. Asked an Uber driver to take me to the Hundreds because I genuinely want to see it for myself so that it might give me an extra kick in the butt to make the move. She said she was down (apparently she grew up on the South Side), but it was night time when she agreed (neither of us were trying to go at night), and she was still asleep when it was time for me to head out to get back to the airport

She gave me the run down on some of the outreach groups around the city and put me up on folks like Father Michael Flager and Bobby Rush to hopefully get in touch with.
