OFFICIAL NBA 2K17 Thread | Available Now

You’ll have to pay more attention to the sticks when you’re shooting the ball, too. Visual Concepts introduced a shot meter in NBA 2K15, and last year, the player’s release timing only mattered for jump shots and shots in the post. Now you’ll need to time layups properly as well, and aiming is a factor in addition to timing — a jump shot will fly true only if you pull straight back on the right stick.

Interesting

Never used the sticks to shoot way too complicated lol

Don't do that. Because you don't like the shot stick, you call it unrealistic? I just don';t understand.

Seriously, go into practice mode, yall are missing out. Those split seconds can make you a better player.

Naw bro you kno i love you lol but why everytime somebody dont play the game like you they are missing out or your way is better?

Even with the stick, the player will still perform right handed layups on the left side, with the defender on their right side. I need the AI to be smarter, and move the ball to the off hand when I flip the stick away from the defender while driving.

Also, floaters need to be re-worked. 2k13 had the best floater system if I recall correctly. They are a lil bit more hard to pull off.

I haven't worked on a roster in a while, but I will this year. My rosters are low key good. Sim rosters. I'll keep you guys posted.

Well, it is factual. 2K devs admitted YEARS ago that shot stick usage is given a "hidden" boost in accuracy.

Take it how you chose

What do you mean with this one?

If you pull the shot stick away, it commands a shot stick on command. 100% of the time.

Same way it has been since 2k8.

And floaters in 2K13 had NO type of high arc, that is something that was implemented in 2K16, which helps out alot

Meh.

I'm going to lead the league in scoring/ rebounding and assists next season by pushing square. Make my teammates better, I'm already great

I cant even enjoy this thread no more DC you cape way to hard for 2k. Nobodys elses opinion matter you got all the answers and 2k is never wrong.

Us as consumers dont know what we want. 2k is god.

Even though were weren't even just talking about 2K issues here.

We were talking about what we do as users.

Nice try though

How many times have you actually went into the practice gym to work on shot stick shooting?

I am being serious here, once you get used to it, you will look back on button shooting and understand how natural of a motion shot stick shooting feels.

Give it an HONEST try

I used it during all of 2k13. I like the buttons better. I dont need no switching hands on layups and all that crap because thats not my play style. Buttons feel more natural to me but thats just me. And yes i tried it in practice mode and it sucks imo.

Nothing works 100% of the time in this game. I've been in the practice gym using the stick to finish left handed contact layups, and I'd say about 30% of the time....the player will shoot it however he sees fit.

They need to tweak it. I'm not asking for a complete overhaul, but there is definitley some more than enough error when it comes to shot stick and finishing.

Floaters work 100% of the time. If anything works right, it is floaters.

Remember, the "away from basket" angle changes unless you have your controls set to ABSOLUTE.

Contact layups are contextual. If the player is "unable" to shoot a layup with the commanded hand in that situation, it will shoot the best layup possible.

Not sure how I feel about that. They should just let people do what they want in that case. If you want to shoot a stupid left handed layup, they should let you. Maybe that SHOULD be re-worked. We will see.

But I know for a fact that floaters ALWAYS work. That is the easiest shot to shoot on demand around the rim

Help me understand the logic of a BUTTON being more "unrealistic" than a shot stick?

It might feel more natural, cool.

But that is all about personal feel
because pushing up on the stistic seems unrealistic . pressing it till and the meter coming out feels more natural and realistic. I don't like the stick Euro step either. The floater I have no problem with.
