EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A father of one of the women killed by Michael Madison attacked the serial killer during sentencing Thursday afternoon.

Madison, the man convicted of killing three women and wrapping their bodies in garbage bags, had just been sentenced to death and victims' family members came up to speak.

When Van Terry, father of Shirellda Terry, came up, he said, "I guess we are supposed to find it in our hearts to forgive this clown ... who has taken my child," then he turned around, and jumped on Madison. Authorities and other people inside the courtroom grabbed Terry and took him out.

Van Terry's sister told WJW reporter Suzanne Stratford that Van just couldn't take it anymore. Family members said Madison was taunting the families and smiling.

In court, prosecutors told the jury that Shirellda Terry was killed with a sword and that her injuries were the worst they had ever seen.

"I was thinking about how you mutilated my child, how you cut my child. And you did all this while my child was still alive, so you caused my baby great pain," Van Terry told WJW.

The judge followed a jury's recommendation that Madison should be executed for aggravated murder and kidnapping. The judge could have chosen life in prison with no chance of parole.

A jury convicted Madison last month, then deliberated for less than a day before recommending the death penalty.

Madison, who has said he admired serial killer Anthony Sowell, killed Shirellda Terry, Angela Deskins and Shetisha Sheely. Their bodies were found in plastic bags near Madison's East Cleveland home in 2013.

During his trial, Madison's lawyers did not argue that he didn't kill the women, only that their deaths weren't premeditated. They were trying to spare him the death penalty.

Terry was escorted out of the courtroom and prosecutors are considering whether to file charges against him.

"I call it a father feeling his pain and if I did get charged, I'm alright with that 'cause I did what I thought was right," he said.

Itnwas stated in other articles that this is basically what brought on the fathers actions. During the trial and sentencing the dude had been smirking laughing and mocking the family
 
I understand it's the cops job to not let that happen but if that were me I let pops get a few solid hits in before I intervene.

Wrote my thesis on the death penalty. Actually advocated the use of cruel punishment when fitting. No need to treat these inhumane mf'ers with dignity when they don't afford that to their victims. Dude's like this deserve to suffer. Taunting a family of a person you murdered and mutilated... Lethal injection's too kind for this p.o.s. :smh:

We made executions too complicated. Electric chair and lethal injection bs. Switch those out for drawing & quartering and public stonings.

We as a society must be above the madness. That **** you talmbout will do absolutely nothing to dissuade heinous crimes.

Find me the proof that the current system, as it stands, effectively dissuades people from committing crime.

I never said our system did. Ever.


In fact I've always said our current system does nothing to effectively curb crime nor rehabilitate offenders.


I think we need a MORE humane approach to corrections in this country. Obviously Michael Madison (the killer in this case) is too far gone for rehabilitation but I don't think people like him, serial killers, can ever be effectively dissuaded.


It's just not going to happen for some folks. Some people are just ******* crazy and evil. Most killings however, are either done by misguided young adults or are crimes of passion. Both of which could definitely be stopped by getting people the help they need before they completely lose themselves.

I wouldn't of done it in the courtroom, but I'd definitely find a way to make sure that guy paid for his crime.
 
It aint all sweet for dudes like this in the pen just cuz they got a murder charge tho trust me. Homies really look down on this type of stuff and make life a living hell for them. Even certain guards turn a blind eye every now and again.
