THE OFFICIAL NIKE KOBE FOOTWEAR THREAD: RIP LEGEND 1978-2020. MAMBA FOREVER | KOBE STATUE : 2/8/24

You prefer Lunarlon?
I do like the lunarlon in the forefoot and the zoom heel. I find the full zoom to make it really tight in the toe-box.
Do you play serious basketball? Or just casual wear
Serious basketball. I'm not saying I'm the greatest player but I do feel that I get the added benefits from a great performance shoe.

My family always messes with me because I have a lot of kobes but I never wear them outside. Sometimes to a fault, but I buy kobes specifically for ball. I would rather have them sit in a box and be able to ball in  a pair when its number is called rather than wear them down outside.

10s were awful for ball

Probably a matter of opinion. I felt the 8's were awful for ball because the lunarlon wasn't good on the knees. Didn't have the 9 & the 10 took a bit of break in time but they're my current bball shoe. I only have tne Black Space 11's & those are my casual black joints. Until they come out with some Flyknit pairs all the A.D.'s that I get will be strictly to play in even though the black & white joints did look good with jeans & a T.

Having this shoe called the AD instead of the 12 has lost it some of its luster to casual customers. They need to call the next shoe the 13 instead of giving it different names and ****

Would have to agree. People I know who casually buy Kobe's thought that they were takedown models. Tragically, most in this thread seem to feel the same way (I'm not one of them).

Yup.  I'm expecting almost any day for Nike to drop a 'Wow' regarding the Kobe line.  A HTM, or at least leak pics of Flyknits.  Guess we'll find out.

If they don't release Kobe retros soon, I really think Nike is dropping the ball.  I'm not a Adi person.  I never will be. Have never bought a pair.  But if they mess up the Kobe line...  I can why some are so down on them.  Kobe's not MJ, but he's the closest there will be for quite a while.  I'm ranting

No problem guys.

Although I didn't have any issues with my AD's, with a $160 price point hard to recommend these when there are more bang for your buck shoes out there on the market. Originally I planned on waiting until these hit the outlets but city blue had a 30% off sale so I couldn't pass them up

wait..why aren't these da XII's?
kobe/nike didn't want to continue with that.

so they called it the AD.

I wouldn't be suprised if next years model is the 12 or 13  or maybe the AD 2

they dummies...guess they forgot awkward that 4-5 year stretch when Jordans were referred to by years...only to revert to da Roman numerals.

for da sake of distinguishing da team line from da main line..make sure whoever makes these threads in da future always always put da number in parentheses "Kobe cobra Commander fangs" (XIII) etc.

muddying da waters between team models & sig lines, is a sure fire way to destroy da halo effect of your brand.

without da lineage of a series backing it, these might as well be glorified team shoes...i mean look at all da team colors already..

i got a feeling they're gonna "griffey" da Kobe line and just have wild low cut shoes of all stripes have his logo, wit different players rock em and that be that.

Y'all assume Kobes are gonna continue to come out annually. I think Nike is transitioning into Lebron, KD, Kyrie as the new big 3 and Paul George takes Kyrie's old spot. I think the AD will be around not for a year, but until they're ready for the next Kobe shoe.

I mean has it even been confirmed that this isn't his last shoe? A.D. 2 doesn't even make sense really.

Would you say they were worth it at that price?

A year ago when asked about the 12 kobe said they were working on the 13 already

I'm glad people dont feel like these are "official" because they aren't called the 12

Shows you how something so insignificant can sway people

Ahh yea I actually remember that being mentioned in a video. Still I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't come out yearly, maybe less than a year if they have a better product (AJ30-AJ31) or more than a year if they don't (AJ29-AJ30).

Im looking forward to trying these out though; no drop in midsole for better heel to toe transition and thicker forefoot lunar. My pair is in the mail, I'll do a side by side with the KD 9 and report back.

Im really starting to feel the AD. Cant wait till we see pics of the black/red!

I don't agree, because the grey colorway did pretty well. Did any EM XI sell out anywhere?

If you know sneakers you know what it is. Blase colorways are the main culprit.

Absolutely. I guess a good comparison would be paying retail for the 11 EM's...nice shoe, but not something that needed to be copped on day one. I waited a few months for them to go on sale and ended up getting a pair for $80 something. I can easily see the same thing happening to the AD's

Honestly majority of NT loved the 8s for basketball, I have a pair I used to wear sparingly and honestly do not see the hype.

They were meh at best. The 9s felt better and even those kinda sucked

Yea everyone loved the 8's. They just weren't for me as far as ball. Casually they're comfortable but they don't have enough support for my knees.
