I was only 13 in '89 when 3rd Bass first came out, so originally i was more of a Serch fan, dope haircuts, cool dance moves.

But with age, looking back, Pete was a way better rapper than Serch, and the suits and the scepter were fly as hell.

Some of the names and comments in here are sad.

Wale and Wayne shouldn't even be mentioned in here.

NY was on Foams heavy in 97. I don't know about Nike boots, never really saw them like that until I moved to the DMV.

I don't think Pharrell should really be in here. He's weird as ****. I don't think he had swag or was influential, just dresses like a weirdo. I don't know anyone that was like, I'm trying to look like Pharrell yo. He had that run with BBC and Bape for a year or two but I wouldn't say that was big enough to put him in the top 10.

I forgot about the trucker hats. I don't dwell on "influence" much. But I know I see other cats talk about the influence of artists for **** Pharrell did like 3-4 years before

He was definitely out front on Bape, Dunks, truckers. Slimmed down clothing. Just that whole ALT vibe from a dude whose roots are in the Urban world.

Pete nice definitely did his thing, realized that as I gotten older too.

Serch was kind of goofy to me. Pete was always that dude in that group.

I did a bit of an homage to Pete in the Celebs Wearing Heat thread. He is a baseball historian and use to rock some ILL fitteds early in the game. Throwback teams, Negro league etc.

Search was definitely the "clown" in the group.

For me at least, that was part of his appeal at the time.

Pete seemed serious, where Serch came off more chill, laid back and funny. Plus at the time a lot of what Pete said went over my head.

Since we're talking 3rd Bass, shouts to Richie Rich, one of the dopest most underrated dj's ever!

I showed Rich some love recently in What Are You Listening To as well

Him, DJ Scratch and Preme probably the illest Hip Hop DJ's ever (excluding the turntablists of course....)
