2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

I have no doubt in my mind that Rose can average 8 assists. Don't let these past few seasons sharing primary ballhandling duties with Butler fool you. Check his resume before that. With Melo/KP he certainly can do it again. Provided Melo isn't a ball stopper this year.
Rose got a lot of his assists through the drive and kick outs in his prime
I doubt he can do that much of that anymore
He has never surpassed 7.9 assists and that was in his prime. I doubt he will get above the 7 assists this year in a triangle offense

Oh god I forgot about the triangle. They still running that? Rose is the worst point guard for it

Hornacek get to pick his own?

Rose gonna be nice next season. I'm really confident in saying that.

I use to be able to tell what players would get, or be in the ball park, but all bets are off. Seems like $6M per is now $10-$11M.

Oh god, I forgot Hornacek is the coach.

What's wrong with Hornacek?

He actually did a damn good job in PHX considering the circumstances.  His first year he coached up a squad that had dudes like Gerald Green and the Morris Twins hooping their ***** off. They fell just short of the playoffs in 2014 and had some great wins against good teams that season. Winning 48 games in the Western Conference with Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic as your best players is impressive. Not his fault the front office nixed whatever momentum that team had by bringing in Thomas.

I'd certainly rather give him a shot then these same retreads that teams seem to carousel every year.

I feel like unless you get gassed by the media as the "in coach", you get unfairly dismissed as a coach by fans.

The minimums and mid levels are pretty much remaining the same, it's only the max deals that are truly seeing the major increase.

Hornacek will be fine.

Agree that choosing a modern coach over someone like Mark Jackson was the right move. The Knicks have been dead last in fast break points since 2013 so i'm excited to see us run & push the tempo.

The sad thing is...because he coached so well that season, they missed out on a high lottery in pick in 2014

. That team was expected to be a bottom dweller and have a shot at Wiggins/Parker the next year.

Drummond and whiteside? Where they end up

Bugatti baze and crabbe will have many saying wtf with their contracts. Guaranteed

Barnes will get at least what he initially turned down last summer

I think Whiteside stays. He and Wade will use all of the cap unless Riles can convince Hassan to take a slight discount in order to be in the running for other FAs. Plus they still need to find a taker for McBob.
