2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

Or maybe the Heat made the right basketball decision and didn't buy into narratives that will set the team back a couple years like my Lakers did

Wade was #4 in PER for a shooting guard last year... Behind DeRozen, Butler, and Harden. Kobe was nowhere on that level when they gave him that contract.

I can dig it, I just don't like the way they left it with Wade. Dude was the Miami Heat, Tyler Johnson may be one day, but yeah....

The Bucks have so much potential.  I"m not too familiar with their whole team but do they have any solid vets to help with the team?? They have so much length and Giannis Antellwkejtlknslkdga;dskljgkpo has the potential to be a star.  I'm almost certain I spelled it correctly.

You're pulling an outlier from the past few years. No decent franchise valued Wade at what he wanted he only got offers from the Nuggets, Bucks and current Bulls for Christ's sake.

Wade also had a lower Real +/- than Richardson and Johnson, 2 very green players that were on the same team as him. His 3 point % was one of his worst in his career too if I remember correctly.

Heat GOAT without a doubt :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:. Hope the rumors of retiring his #3 soon come to fruition,he deserves that and more.
I would say the bulls are a decent franchise

Bulls fans know and will tell you about Paxson though

Heat really blew it with wade in my opinion. They should have paid him. He was the best thing to ever happen to that franchise, and they spent the money on white side and a bunch of scrubs.
Agreed.  but nothing wrong with signing whiteside, he still has room to improve and trade value if he sorta flops.

Should have found a way to make room for Wade somehow.

KD was rumored to not being happy with how Heat were treating Wade during his contract negotiations.   Good luck to Riley and Arison on getting a KD, Wade, Lebron, Westbrook level player again after what took placed.  Word gets around.  No loyalty, whatsoever.

Close..... The semi colon is closer to the end . Also no not really. As incompetent as mayo is is life he really had the ear of ga. He was a really good teammate so it is somewhat sad to see him go. Just read they are looking to add a vet in free agency still. Possibly somebody like T Prince or along those lines

I wanted the Heat to retain Wade but after thinking rationally rather than with my heart or gut, Riley prob made the best move. Keeping Wade and overpaying him for his past services, sounds like a move Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss would make. That Lakers ship is a sinking boat of Titanic proportions because of the poor decisions made over the course of 4-5 years by the owner and GM. Riley has always been a solid and well-respected GM throughout the league, so he may know something we are not privy to. This also sets up the Heat with plenty of cap room for a max player, or 2 max players, in the next 2-3 years.

And if Bosh is back this season, the team is still a playoff team. Dragic, whiteside, bosh are still a formidable trio in the east.

Man hope dude pans out. To be able to do that at 7 1 is nuts. Still not crazy bout the pick but dude has a motor and seems like hes got his head on straight sont sense much entitlement from him.

Well said

Miami won't compete for a championship nor will they sign any major free agents to come play with Whiteside and Tyler Johnson

They shoulda just gave D Wade what he wanted

Knicks fans are going to LOSE THEIR MINDS this season-wayyyy past Linsanity levels. I didn't believe it until i saw it w my own eyes: Phil Jackson is a freaking magician. Jeannie needs to steal him away from NY.

In the past few years; Knicks, Lakers, and Sixers, were on pace with each other for worst franchises in the Nba but Knicks and Sixers have made considerable strides in the right direction. Ben Simmons is the Truth-he made 3 or 4 passes that were Stockton-esque vs the Lakers in summer league. Sixers will be a desirable destination for free agents in the next few years(colangelos know what they are doing). Clippers are now officially the BIG BROTHER in LALA land.

Lakers got alot of young talent though.

Bosh is a big if. Can't see the Heat making the playoffs the playoffs next year. Riley is great but he's lost Lebron and Wade. Both ended ugly.

The Heat are in purgatory. Not bad enough to get a good pick, not good enough to beat anyone worth a **** in the postseason. If Bosh is out I'd love to see who steps up as the leader because Whiteside is not leading grown men in any capacity

 at the Lakers being a sinking ship they have a bunch of young talent with respectable ceilings
