2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

I'll never forget the BEAUTIFUL basketball they played to beat the Heat last chip they had.

This was a year after he slammed the floor with his hands after he missed an easy layup or something during game 7.

Happy for him.

As a Mavs fan, not one individual has sh** on me more times than TD and it's really not even close.

To sh** on me you had to make me believe I/my team had a chance, I can't do anything but salute you Timmy.

On another note, are the Blazers that far behind the Spurs right now?

I wonder what Aldridge feels about this.

I swear OKC made everyone forget how great San Antonio was during the season last year. Golden State broke the record and the Spurs were on their heels ALL season.

My heart hurts. I knew it was coming. I now know how Kobe fans feels when he retired. I don't like this feeling. Greatest PF of all time.

Like I'm honestly in my feelings, how do y'all deal with this.

I have mixed feelings on the retirement/gift tour happenings.

Certain players are defintiely deserving, Duncan being one of them. But a gift from each team he faces for the last time, is that necessary? It's to say what impact did he have on said team over the years vs the league office itself gifting him?
When you score 81 points, play 20 years, win 5 rings, and have a billion all star appearances and have done what Kobe has done, you can go out however you want.

Same for TD.

There is no "right" or "wrong way" to retire.

Boring *** dude honestly
Boring to those who don't know the game of basketball. I don't dispute that he probably never converted a single non-basketball fan into a basketball fan, but to those who are familiar with the game of basketball and the finer points within it, Tim Duncan was one of the most exciting players to watch. Top 5 of all time.

End of an era.

TD had a lot to do with this. From a pure basketball standpoint, The Spurs defense will suffer big time without Tim Duncan.

PG: Tony's corps/ Dejonte Murray/ Patty Mills
SG: Danny Green/ Manu's corps/ Is Kevin Martin still here?
SF: Kawhi/ Slow Mo
PF: Aldridge/ ??
C: Pau/ ??

The backcourt is either old or average rotation players at best. The front court is thin and soft as hell. The only bright spots are Kawhi and Aldridge. Pau is due to slow down, I don't know how Tony and Manu will run this year, Murray is a rookie, Green needs to step it up or else this will be a lost season for them with a first round exit.

Blazers:
PG: Dame/ ??
SG: Urkle/ ??
SF: Allen Crabbe/ Evan Turner
PF: Ed Davis/ Aminu
C: Meyers/ Plumlee

Blazers backcourt will be a year older and a year better, Turner will carry their bench and can be the 2nd unit's primary ball handler. It's smart to put shooters around him which they have. What they need to get are defensive stoppers because Dame, CJ, and Allan won't stop anyone.

Agreed 100%.

Tim Duncan and the spurs were a joy to watch. I love watching players and team you can learn from which is why I was never really a fan of Lebron and Westbrook.

Obviously trading Pau for TD is a big downgrade but he played 61 games at 25 mph. Don't see why everyone is writing them off already. This happens literally every year with the Spurs.
