2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

If I remember correctly everyone had Amare as a high MVP candidate his first year in NY until they got Melo.

I'll never forget him winning ROY when everyone handed the award to Yao before the season started.

Couple years later gave Duncan & the Spurs 37 a night as a 22 year old in the conference finals.

He was great until the knees finally gave out for good.

One of the most dominating offensive 4s we've ever seen.
Jay Williams?
Jay was up there.

Juanny was popular pick at the barbershop

I'll always remember Amare for calling Odom's 19 and 19 game vs the Suns in the 2010 WCF a "lucky game". Odom gives 17 and 11 the game two.

Averaged 14 and 11 that series. :pimp:

You just looked that up right now.

nah b. every laker fan knows every stat of every laker at any given time. It's part of the bylaws of the coven. shout out Brian Cook scoring 21 points for the 09-10 season. :smokin

Amare was putting up numbers that December to generate the MVP talk, but they were barely .500.

I think Jay and Caron Butler were the consensus top ROY candidates before the season.

I never got the sense Yao or Amare were in the conversation until the games were played.

Amar'e is going to be underrated at the end of his career.

Guy was arguably the best offensive PF for 4 years in a league with Dirk, Duncan, Garnett playing.

In the same token, I've never seen someone who tried so hard on defense but was so incapable. Just always half a beat late or a reaction to slow.

Regardless, he's a HOF in my eyes.

All Ibaka does is spread the floor as a PF, Gordon will be fine next to him. He's definitely a guy that can play 3 too. Not like he's exclusively a 4.

Julius Randle is a slightly better version of Brandon Bass
not that far off comparison he'll never be all star calibur matter of fact none of the lakers young'ns will be allstars theyll be good but not franchise all star types...
