2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

Between BHZ and the new arena, this is the most talk the Clippers have gotten in an offseason in the last 20 years.

hope they stay at staples.

i hit up a lot of Clippers games during the season.

I feel like it's been less..

between all the Donald sterling stuff and the selling of the team

then you had deandre's free agency and the banana boat stuff

1 warriors
2 spurs
3 clippers
4 jazz
5 blazers
6 mavericks
7 pelicans(health)
8 rockets
9 grizzlies(health)
10 twolves
11 suns
12 nuggets
13 kings
14 lakers
15 thunder(if westbrook is traded)

that OKC fall from grace though :x

under thibs, I could see Twolves finishing ahead of the grizz, rockets, and pelicans and sniffing the playoffs for the first time since that KG+Starbury. KAT, Dieng, Wiggins, Rubio, and Lavine? these cats still damn near fresh out of diapers. the future is bright as hell for them. if they could add a consistent shooter, the ascension would be grand.

also, I might be way off base here, but anyone else think that the 2016 Jazz will move in to replace the Grizz as the darkhorse team of the West?

people act like i come in here on some real live troll stuff like "grizz #1 seed, championship next yr!1111111111!!"

even though i talk about my team, i'm at least providing some form of analysis to the conversation. some of you are pitiful. instead of providing more insight, you just spew hot garbage without even real evidence or numbers to back it up. :rolleyes

You're the only one that pushes this Grizzles agenda though. I'd understand if there was an audience for what you're trying to say, but there isn't man

I've simply associated you as "the guy with the weird SN that always comes on NT to talk about the Grizzles"

Utah will be good, but I hate they are being hyped up a lot right now.

Usually darkhorses come out of nowhere and take the league by surprise (i.e. Portland last season was considered a darkhorse because many did not expect them to have such a quick turnaround after breaking up 3/4 of their core).

What I see happening right now to the Twolves and Jazz to a lesser extent is the same thing that happened to the Bucks, Suns and Pelicans to an extent. These teams had players they absolutely loved, yet, the overall talent on the roster could never stay healthy or just didn't mesh well enough to make a serious impact. Utah is much closer to being a solid playofff team before Minnesota, but I think overhyping them will result in some failure.

One thing is for sure...Utah will be great defensively. Their offense will still struggle and I still don't know what will become of Exum. Minnesota is still a work in progress unless Wiggins and KAT make superstar-like jumps this upcoming year. They need to adjust to having Thibs on board, find out their guard situation and stay healthy among all other things.

This year will be a good year for Utah to make the playoffs as a low seed. Get beat by the Warriors and come back next year with another added piece to push them a little over the top. I honestly don't see the Twolves making the playoffs at all this year.

Remember last year being Utah's year? They got very close, but it was a odd year in the West as well. It was also suppose oto be a big year for the Pelicans, but AD went down and they had a ton of injuries as well.

Damn, the Clippers at the forum would be lit, as they say. Rams and Clippers 5 min from the crib?? Sign me up.

1) I don't expect Dallas to be as bad as many think. Depth wise they are thin, but they still have a capable playoff starting unit with DWill, Wes, Barnes, Dirk and Bogut. Not to mention one of the best coaches in the league. Injuries will play a big factor just like they do with most of these teams

2) Houston is a wildcard for me after losing Dwight. Their playoff positoning may be at risk considering I expect their defense to be even worse than last year (20th in DEF EFF).

3) OKC is another wildcard. I feel like they may end up falling a little short, but depending on how well this new team gels they can make it.

I see GSW-SAS-MEM-LAC-PDX as locks with Dallas as a strong possibility (with good health). That leaves 2 spots for Utah, Houston, OKC and whoever else.

There...no Grizz talk in b2b posts. Check me stats b

Yea I can't really doubt Carlisle anymore. They upgraded at the 3 but I think Dirk finally falls off, he was insanely good (on offense) and carried that team. D will is butt tho

Bogut will be considered an underrated add to that team. He has the ability to make them much better defensively. I would say he'll make a similar impact as Tyson did, but I don't expect them to be as good overall as a team when they had Tyson. Hoping Wes can regain his stroke and 3D form prior to the injury. He could really become the vocal leader of that team.

I really hate Dwill as a fit for the current Dallas setup. I feel like they should've been the team to target Teague or Hill. They were too busy trying to go after the big dawgs in free agency though

Wouldn't be surprised if Houston didn't make it

_antoni bro. Guaranteed they make it. Will probably be one of the highest scoring teams in the L. May not be a high seed on the account of their defense, but they'll be there I believe. At least as good as Memphis.

lol BHZ

Don't like their roster and even worse their phony head coach

I don't quite understand the D'Antoni hype

He's made the playoffs twice in his last six seasons as a head coach.

Both of those teams were much better than what he's about to coach this season.

Melo / MVP like Amare
Dwight / Pau / Kobe

Neither team was good defensively, but just had better overall upper level talent. Maybe if you keep Dwight on the Rockets it'll be an easier sell  .

Without a doubt they will. It'll be a high scoring offense. Probably the highest in the league once they get used to prigs system and the new additions which also leads me to that no defense . Defense is going to be terrible but hey you cant have it all

I also heard Rockets are going after Rudy Gay. They'll be in the playoffs easily and actually might take a step up.

Agreed.  Not to mention his offensive philosophy isnt much different than what they were doing last year. Last year they were top 3 in 3 pts attempted and top 7 in pace.  I don't really see how D'antoni is going to make that much of a difference.  Anderson and Gordon should make great additions provided they stay healthy, but I don't really see that team making that big of a jump considering how awful they are going to be defensively.

They were top 3 in 3PTA but had no shooters. They added two elite ones.

D'Antoni has been able to get the most out of primary ball handlers and PNR guys. Harden is an elite one.

For a ton of reasons, the team badly underachieved. Harden came in out of the shape. Dwight was unhappy. Everyone had a down year. With a new coach, a couple new faces, Harden ready to prove doubters wrong - I see the chemistry and overall effort level being a lot better.

If Harden's for real, they should be way better.

They added shooters but subtracted out defense.  They were 25th last year in points allowed and somehow managed to get worse defensively.

For the same health concerns other teams have, Houston definitely has them.

They added 2 elite shooters that missed a combined 173 games over the last 3 seasons. And I don't know what it is, but Anderson hasn't been an elite shooter since 2013-14. He's been pretty average shooting the ball the past two seasons. I'm a EJ fan and wish we could've stole him from Houston. I'm just not sure whta to expect from him since he's never had a season where he played over 64 games since his rookie year.

Their defense will still be laughable.

Bruh, you know how when you watch a movie and a song comes on and it gets you hype or give you goosebumps?

Like when you used to watch Karate Kid and the theme song came on and you'd be up play fighting with your friends getting hyped?

That's what I imagine when KD said he woke up and knew he was going to GSW, and went and woke everyone up and told them.

Like I think he was just laying there and then something like
