2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

Neither is Conley or Parsons and yall just gave them a quarter Billi

I'm pretty sure Conley would have made an all-star team in the East considering the likes of Lowry, Dragic, Lil Zeke have made it. Not his fault that he's in a conference with more superior guards overall thats keeping him out. Its not the same case as a guy like Adams who's not going to even be nowhere in consideration. No one on that team would be considered top 10 at their position outside of Russ.

Not to mention Conley actually made all-defensive team before and Memphis has a guy that made all-defense last season, a former DPOTY who can potentially make all-defense this year, and have at least one all-star next year.

And trying to use what they got paid as a reason to justify what I said says all I need to know. Yet, I'm sure you'll take Conley, Parsons and Marc on that OKC team right now over 3 of your current starters. I guess its a good problem to have when the guy you added to your team put up around 17 / 5 on 50% FG and 45% 3PT shooting during his stretch of helathy games last year.

Meanwhile, OKC lost a former MVP, a 3x all-NBA defender (who lies about his age) who they decided to keep over a guy who was 2nd in MVP voting 2 years ago. Now, they're trying to replace him with a guy who's known for dirty play and his stache, a guy who got his starting spot beat out in Utah, a player who lost his starting job to a lottery team last season and a bunch of unknown role players. And all that "youth" you guys have will end up being traded away if they ever turn into anything because that's the "OKC way". If they develop into something special, they just leave.

pretty difficult NOT making an all star team if you're half way decent. For real, with players getting injured and you didn't make it once as a replacement??

MO WILLIAMS made an all star team for gods sake.

Yea and the majority of those replacements were in the East.

Looking at the all-stars at the guard position in the West over the last 3-4 years, you had ....

2016 - Curry / Russ / Kobe (voted in) / CP3 / Harden / Klay
2015 - Curry / Kobe / Klay / Russ / Harden / Lillard (replacement)
2014 - Curry / Kobe / CP3 / Parker / Harden / Lillard

Conley's year to make it was 2015, but since Memphis already had Marc as an all-star, they were slighted as usual. I don't think it was even possible for Memphis to have 2 all-stars and we had the 2nd best record in the West at that time (like 39-13 going into the break). Yet, they felt the need to add 2 Portland players who were below us in the standings and we beat in the playoffs pretty easily.

The all star team is fan based. That ish means nothing to me. You don't get voted unless your household name.

thats just starters though.

Being such a good guy, its just surprising he wasn't put on the team once. Or maybe its not surprising.

I didn't name just the starters  . Those were all of the guards on those teams each year.

I also agree that all-star games don't hold much weight. I jus think its silly that Mike didn't at least make 1 all-star game. But, the national perception of Memphis is based on the two bigs (Zbo / Gasol).

Even when we had Rudy, he never touched the all-star game and he was our leading scorer during 2011-12 when Zbo was out and we got homecourt advantage in the playoffs. (during the lockout year).

Bhz bro, Ima need you to put some respect on Adams' name immediately. Idk if you're still mad that he got Z-Bo suspended but you're out of control with the slights

The prize quote from Woj's article...
“The idea of running out to find a super team, that isn’t who he is,” one source close to Westbrook told The Vertical. “He thought, ‘These are my guys here,’ and he wanted to go to battle with them.”
Damn. *D. Wade sipping water & shaking head gif*

That's gotta be Russell's agent, right? Logic says it's his agent.

never forget:
Its how good is OKC's other players in comparison to teams like LAC, Portland, Memphis, Utah and whoever else.

Sure, OKC has the best player overall amongst those squads, but OKC's 2nd best player may end up being the 5th/6th best player on any of these teams.

100% that's Royce Young as the source

Yea you guys are giving OKC way too much credit. There's literary no one on that team that can win them a game after the the amount of attention Westbrook is gonna get in crunch time. Plus we all know how much of a chuck he is once it gets to that point in the game.

38-42 wins at most

Damn zero mention of Steph so far in this MVP discussion

with kd on the team its gonna be hard for him to put up those numbers like the last 2 years.

I agree, just thought it was pretty jokes

Really interested in seeing how everyone meshes together on that squad,Klay was just saying the other day that he's not gonna change a damn thing about his game
81% of Klay's shots were assisted. That's a higher proportion than DeAndre Jordan.

Klay actually won't have to change anything about his game.

Nearly 60% of Durant's shots were assisted.

So he doesn't really have to do much changing either.

What in the hell has Steven Adams done to get some much respect to be a 2nd option on a top 5 seed team?

Yet, you guys come on here to tell me that guys like Conley and Parsons are buns.

***** please

Stop the madness. Until Adams can at least put together a season where he can be considered a top 10 center, I'll give him credit. People are truly telling me that they're comfortable running their offense through Oladipo, Adams and Kanter when Westbrook is not on the floor. These are your 2nd, 3rd and 4th options on a 1 star team. On a team that doesn't feature Lebron at that.

Its like people are expecting Adams to be a dominant force offensively. As of now, he hasn't even put together an elite defensive year, yet. I don't expect them to be a bad team, but I also don't expect them to be some top 5 team in the West. Bottom 3 seed at the end of the day and the only way they make top 5 is if we see a bunch of injuries in the West like we did last year. They also have to be 100% healthy for that to happen.

Well its not like Conley and Parsons arent glorified 3rd-4th options on most teams either.

How are they not?

People have to stop spewing stupidity.

How come 2 guys that can average between 15-17ppg, proven to have big games and take over games not be considered good 3rd or 4th options? I've seen with my own eyes both players win games ON THEIR OWN several times (especially Conley). Stop spewing a bunch of dumb ****
