Terror attack in Turkey: 2 explosions in Istanbul airport

RIP :smh:

I was there last May. Had a wonderful time. The people we're great. Really sad what's happening in Istanbul.

Isn't this like the second major terrorist attack in Turkey in the past few months? WTH is going on over there?

What's going on is that Erdogan is in the crosshairs of the Kurd separatist movement and in bed with/in the crosshairs of ISIS

plot twist is da US needs to Kurds to battle ISIS, but Turkey arguably hates da Kurds MORE than ISIS.

Yep.

There's a long history of Kurdish nationalism in Turkey. In fact, for a very long time, Kurds weren't allowed to practice their language and culture anywhere in the country. It seems that with the rise of the Kurdish Iraqis, the Kurds on the Turkish side are feeling emboldened enough to try to revive their struggle and ultimately carve a piece of land out of Turkey to attach to the autonomous Kurdistan in Iraq.

I'm afraid we're witnessing the beginning of another decade-long affair in the Middle East.

I don't get what's goin on at all man :smh:

Why are they killing innocent people?

Why not just keep it Sunni vs Shia?

In the words of a terror analyst on CNN earlier, in their mind you're either with them or against them. Not much gray area in their minds.

I'm afraid we're witnessing the beginning of another decade-long affair in the Middle East.
The Middle East hasn't been quiet in 100 years

Doesn't the bible speak of these events?

Horrible. Muslims killing muslims during ramadan.

I'm sure obama and kerry will give a stern lecture at least... to xenophobic republicans

Essentially this.

I'm from turkey and this airport is actually 5 min away from my house that we have there.
Erdogan isn't our choice for leadership but he always gets the vote and stays in leadership and most people hates him. Erdogan jus F's everything up

That's what I don't get, that airport is supposed to have the best security in the world.

Security is everywhere, the problem is the way the queue to get in is designed. I was at the international terminal a couple years ago. I remember having thoughts to myself about how vulnerable this area would be to an attack like this. The traffic from cars and taxis dropping people off in front is some of the worst I've seen because you literally walk in the door and a huge line of people going through security is there before even getting to the ticket counters. This results in a large mass of people at the entrance, where these guys could just drive up and conduct this attack and target a large amount of people quickly.

Prayers for all those affected |I
