Porn does a lot more harm than good and is a serious problem

This definitely an odd blanket statement.

Everybody I know takes it serious.

Yeah that was a statement that probably should have been revised by me.

I should have said "in my life experience, i've encountered an alarming amount of both men and women who don't take rape nearly as serious as they should."

Don't just single out this country. Around the world. Look at places where women get raped and they're the ones who get punished or shunned from their villages.

So what time periods do BP and AP consist of...

and do domestic violence/violence against women rates coincide with your hypothesis?
I'm only 24 so I don't really have a reference point for when porn came into prominence within our society.
arent you in college....?

don't you know how to research before you make a hypothesis?

how are you discussing an issue in class... with a professor...yet you are basing your entire argument on your "opinion"

no facts.... no research.... have you turned in any papers using MLA format?

what college you going to b?

Yeah you're right.

My professor was telling me a story about A girl who had sex with a man that her parents didn't approve of, so they tricked her into coming home one night and set her on fire. This was in India.

In a research paper, yes.

On NT? Nah man

I don't know if porn is the reason why society has adopted a less harmful position on it's attitudes towards women. That may be an entirely different discussion to be had.

In general, what you're referring to is society's stance that it has on women and for me, that doesn't really connect to if Porn plays a role in how normalized rape and sexual / physical violence are within our society.

This was my point: If pornography is the single biggest factor that contributes to the normalization of violence toward women, shouldn't that trend have gotten a boost as pornography became more accessible?

Society's toxic attitudes toward women far predate the entrance of porn into the mainstream

Kids these days don't have to work for **** that's why they catching that ed so early. You know how many times I had to click the back button on the cable remote to see even one stabilized tata?!
Too real.

Remember having to make sure Nickolodeon was the channel that my cable was on before I started watching porn so that if someone busted in the room I could change the channel asap

I see what you're saying, but i don't agree. Violence against women isn't accepted, especially rape (except for college campuses, but that's a different story). You get shunned and shamed.
Violence as a whole is is too normalized in my opinion, and that's due to several factors.
I think porn does affect how you appreciate sex and can be addictive, but i don't think it can be linked to actually being violent towards women.

America will never do it, but a red light district would greatly benefit us. Morally, it sounds wrong, but this is a screwed up country already. regulated prostitution and weed would only make things better.

You can blame everything and anything on porn. Same thing with rap music, religion, guns, social media, recreational drugs, etc.

Anything you do that exceeds the normal average is addicting so for people to say porn is addicting.. yeah well same can be said about video games, eating, drinking, etc. It's not the subject per say that is addicting, it's the person's overall behavior. Just like the saying of how if you smoke pot, it's a gateway drug, and you will end up doing heroin. :rolleyes

Yes certain videos are very bad such as a young girl getting blasted by 20 dudes but the majority of viewers aren't watching those types of videos. Young people use porn as basic sex education which is a good thing. Porn provides the skills that will ultimately lead to a much more satisfying sex life, whether alone or with a partner.

Just look at the middle east as an example of the violence against woman. Porn is basically unlawful there and rape/crimes against woman is still going on. Hell there are probably more rape and violence against woman in these 3rd world countries that lack porn.

So, what are smart phones and social media doing? Phone usage is getting worse. US education is worse. The problem is people living with entitlement, people who lack conversational skills, etc. People don't even have decent etiquette, nowadays

Schools are closing or dilapidated, funding for extracurricular programs are being taken away, but new football stadiums popping up.

Walmarts are opening on every corner, buts schools are closing down, America does not care about anything. The ones who really care, make difference, while the talkers, continue to talk, and not attempt to fix anything.

Porn is only one of the many other issues.

All true and things I agree with for the most part, except I think porn in the middle east is a bit more prevalent than you're giving it credit for.

Yeah I agree... the top consumers of porn are from the middle east because casual sex and sexuality is usually prohibited in these countries.

Imagine a world without porn?

Perverted men especially young men with high levels of testosterone would have no medium to masturbate to which leads to what? Masturbation is a skill because not only do you get to know your body better but you're learning how to orgasm, and can also provide confidence and decreases stress. So what happens to men that are sexually frustrated?

Anger.

Hateful.

Spite.

Animosity.

Jealousy.

Those are the emotions that would trigger violence! Probably against women.

Now don't get me wrong... EXCESSIVE porn watching and masturbation is not healthy. When you have a chance to hang out with a female or socialize and instead rather stay in your room to watch a live stream of your favorite porn star.. yeah that's not going to make your life any better.

this is where absolute freedom can be harmful. everyone can't handle themselves as well as one should.
women are free to do porn. people are free to watch porn. porn is free nowadays. people become addicted.

OP what's your stance on lustfll imagery altogether? I feel like other forms of social media, ig especially is diet pr0n. women flaunting their sexuality and men eating it up. Both parties getting their rocks off; women getting flattered with the attention and compliments left and right, a quantitative amount of approval and men are on there feeding into it, double tapping with one hand, buffing the badger with the other.

at this point, i don't see things getting any better. Porn and porn addiction is basically the exploitation of a basic human function. As long as women are sexy and willing to be filmed having sex for money, and men want to see sexy women then it will only get worse.
