Nike KD 9 ID Thread - Available July 7, 2016

My warriors away IDs came today. Ordered on the 9th, so that was 16 days. That is fast for NikeID. Sadly, I opened the box, looked at them, and then immediately took them back to my local NikeTown. Returned them for two reasons. First, after playing in the mic drops for 2 weeks, it became clear the zoom was too squishy for me - it felt unstable and it was slowing me down on the court. Second, I didn't like the flynit paint job on my pair. It was too light of a blue and it inconsistent in spots. In the end I wasn't going to $195 plus tax for a shoe I don't love for basketball nor a shoe that had marginal craftsmanship.

Sorry to hear.

Sucks that we don't even have non-painted grey pair to customize on this model. Nike is dissappointing us again... oh well

aw man I wish you took a picture

Wasn't worth taking a pic. They looked just like the other pics of the blue IDs people have been posting.

I'm pretty bummed. I really wanted the KD9 to be my go to shoe (good mix of comfort, tech, and price) and to pick up a pair of yellow IDs. Oh well. Time to find another shoe to play in.

Also got my kd9 away iDs in. Same thing. Opened the box and now preparing to ship them back. Looks like the pictures of what other people posted. Really light in color. Fly knit is painted and uneven in some spots. There was even a fingerprint on my midsole from that being painted. Tried them on and they are really tight and hurt pretty bad. Sadly, kd 9 won't be the shoe for me because I have wide feet apparently. Really wanted this to be my go to model based on other peoples review. Heel lock down was amazing though!

Kind of disappointing to hear about the painted flyknit colors being so off from the visuals we get online. It's starting to look like the Heather Black or White options might be the safe way to go, but that's unfortunate as well. I'm looking forward to see more ID's get posted as they come in. I guess the one positive is that the turnaround went from 10 weeks to 6 to now 4.

Multi looks really cool....i just have a hard time with how the other half of the shoe looks like it doesnt belong

Agreed... I would've copped multis if we could've changed the liner and swoosh. Warriors colors don't go with that MC weave at all IMO.

no clear soles either for some strange reason.
If I had to guess, I would say that it is because Nike is trying to save money.  Say the price to build a regular Nike iD is $30, but a translucent/glow sole ups the price to $35. Nike probably knows that sneaker connoisseurs such as ourselves would not be satisfied by painted flyknit. Therefore, if Nike sends you a pair with painted flyknit and glow soles, they know you are most likely going to return them. Nike is then stuck with a shoe that very few people would be interested in purchasing (especially if already customized with text) and now they took even more money to create. They just aren't even giving us the option to use more of their money on a shoe that they won't be able to sell easily. Since the craftsmanship of the heathered white and black is presumably better, they must be anticipating less returns, so they think they can bust out the more "premium" materials.

Just a guess.

Yeah they're blazing through these orders. Ordered 7/21, no started email but got almost finished email today.
