HBO's The Night Of

That blood on the deer head is gonna bother me until lord knows when.

Box is a dangerous man. All about the end result.

Y'all should probably check out the Criminal Justice series of you think this series is gonna be about something else

I remember watching it years back and it's really just about the entire process. They'll get to who did it and how but this 8 eps of following everybody connected to this case first and foremost.

Box did say "he got the knife to within inches"

So that means the real weapon is still out there.

Episode 2 was real slow, but I can't complain. They need to build it up again after that awesome pilot.

Wouldn't that person see the extra set of clothes and footwear Naz left in the bedroom?

I find it hard to believe the killer snuck in and out without seeing him. I'd feel for w/e reason its more likely the killer at least knew where Naz was when she got killed and wanted to avoid him for w/e reason. He was blackout drunk so it's not clear if he went from the bedroom straight to the kitchen.

He definitely wasn't in the room when she was getting killed.

Had to be right there at that fridge.

No telling who put the inhaler on the bed though. Could have been someone other than the killer, also trying to set him up or further help seal the case for their side.

I do find it unlikely that the killer didn't know and or didn't see Nas in the house, but this is TV, I'm not ruling anything out.

The inhaler was put on the bed after the stabbing. He was set up.

Bingo. Box knew what he was doing by giving it back to Naz. Either to get him to talk, or remove any evidence that didn't have a trace of blood on it to further link Naz.

Goes with the whole notion of Box being a "subtle beast." Giving him his inhaler back can be seen as a bit of an olive branch. Box has a job to do, but buttering up Naz to try to get to the bottom of the crime is nothing more than strategy.

Going back to the inhaler theory...I think it's plausible. Especially if this is indeed a setup.

this show is more about showcasing the criminal justice system than it is about solving the actual case.

which sucks. i don't care about seeing prison life and people getting beat up or raped. there's been enough shows about that.

and enough with the lawyer's damn feet.

but i thought some things were well-done, like the reaction when they read the charges and giving him that Harvard t-shirt. otherwise it was a letdown.

edit: they're toying with us about Stone. his inexperience may screw Nas over as much as Box will.

and their haven't been enough murder who done its?

Out of opportunity. We're gonna get down to why she couldn't be alone that night and that will break the story wide open.

There have been, but I think that's what attracts people to these types of shows. Everyone was into Serial and Making a Murder because of the who-done-it aspect, not because people care about how Adnan Syed or Steven Avery are doing in jail. If it is all about his experience in the criminal justice system, then I'm going to lose interest real fast. I already know jail sucks and I got Orange is The New Black to remind me of that.

On another note, I appreciate good cinematography as much as the next guy, but this show has way too many long, dramatic shots. Like the one of the lady standing outside smoking. They showed like 3 or 4 different angles and it served no purpose to the story. It almost feels like it's all filler to make it seem more dramatic than it is.

You wylin. It's a metaphor. This whole show has been about stares.

Just caught the first two episodes. Really liking this show so far.

Reminds me of Season 1 of the Serial Podcast.

Knife on him definitely not the murder weapon. They made it a point to mention multiple times that it is unclear whether the knife was serrated. My bet is after the autopsy they find out it was serrated. The joint on nasty nas had a smooth finish.

Also, the stare by Bodies homie was too obvious. Don't like him for the killer.

My bet is on Mickey Doyle :nerd:

Also noticed how the crime scene cats came looking for the rest of the evidence and the clerk cop told them they had some other cops drop it off.

Thought it was funny the crime cops said "do you always break chain of command".

Makes me think they're going to show how this case unravels.

Box talking to Naz without his lawyer present, tampering of evidence, etc.

Also the DA asking Box how can she lose this case and Box telling her it's open and shut case.

Yea I'm thinking they're going to show how this case falls apart.

Can someone please explain the significance of him giving Naz the Harvard T?

Why was that such a slick move?

Going to rikers with a harvard shirt would conceivably make you look soft, or like a nerd. Like food basically.

They like to leave people in jails like that to force a plea or an admission so you can hurry up and get to a prison where it likely wouldnt be such hard time.

Because it made him stand out like a sore thumb.

Again..."subtle beast."

Box is playing mind-games w/ Naz. The Harvard shirt was one of the many chess moves in Episode 2.

Thanks fellas. :smokin
Repped you both.

Makes sense now.

I appreciate that they're showing both sides (the murder mystery and the criminal justice system). We'll be more invested and all.

But like I don't want them to spend half an episode building up to Naz getting raped or something, and putting us through watching him deal with the emotions. Although so far I think they've done a good job giving the right amount of shock (the knife game was superb; the amount of corpse and blood they've shown us is adequate; the other inmate getting beat up was good in that they panned away for most of the beating).
