Viceland Black Market

I'm going to check this out later...I'm LOVING the vice channel on TV.

Watched some cool stuff on Jamaica/Mexico over the weekend.

Great watch.

I mean so if you get car jacked you give up your car file with insurance and they give you the money right (for the assumed value of your car, which usually is not that great?).

I guess if you live in newark your car insurance is probably really high...or new york (as proven in the monthly bills thread). It just seems like some of these thieves have a some what clear conscious because they think like eh insurance will cover you when we jack your car.

The funny part is the downtown section of Newark is seeing some reinvestment. New office towers, condos, ect.
That economic activity isn't resonating in Newark's wards though.

Just watched the episode on demand. Crazy how the Newark carjackings intertwine with West Africa.

Michael K. Williams is perfect for this role.

great watch.

them dudes hustling hard.

crazy how the cars end up in Africa

this show is dope

are there two versions tho?

some episodes have michael and others dont?

VICE coming through with some really good shows -- I like Black Market and Cyber War

Saving this vid for later. The OG New Jersey Drive is one of my most favorite movies growing up. I remember even my parents telling me not to take their car to Newark when I first got my license. And while I've been fortunate enough to never having any issues, I know about 6 people who's cars have been stolen out there, including my last boss. He says they followed him into a garage and made him exit out at gunpoint. The police actually saw the thieves driving his car on the highway later but didn't chase them due to "public safety". Crazy :smh:

Black Market got some good EPs, especially the Chicago one where he talked to one of the young'ns firing off pistols. Son would ha guns and bought guns for his crew, but off camera he begged mkw to take him away with him, he doesn't want to live like that anymore. Died the afternoon of the interview. Touching stuff. These kids out there just want to be kids, but the environment won't let them.

Jesus Christ. Dude just got caught up in the system that he never wanted to be a part of.

I gotta check that episode out.

Ill never go back to chicago

Chicago only cares about downtown. They don't care what happens in the neighborhoods, just don't bring it downtown.

whether right or wrong, it's good to hear other sides to the stories the media tell you so that you can form a better opinion ...

i really like the show ...

the fisherman episode was just sad ... "gentrification is coming"

was that the tunnel episode?

im not all that familiar with the politics or people so i was a little confused but the actual danger of the tunnel for food and such was crazy

sidenote: is it just me or did it seem like dina and the guy who liked his building had a little chemistry?
