Being Sober is boring

As much as I miss the good ole days of you posting pics of guys swooping in on the ugly white women you use to pick up, or your laptop being stolen in the middle of the day by that jump off, I'm really proud of the progress you've made. This is an addiction that you will have to deal with for the rest of your life unfortunately, so it's best if you find constructive things to do in the meantime.

Like many others have said, hit the gym, join a WAKA sports league (a place to meet chicks) read some Robert Greene 48 Laws of Power/ Laws of Attraction, play some 2K. You've already taken steps to improve your health by not drinking, why not improve the body and mind at the same time. An idle mind is the Devils playground. Unfortunately you are in the position because you didn't fully grasp the concept of moderation, and you really riskinall your recent accomplishments unraveling if you try it at this moment. Keep strong and you the urge will always pass but you will be tested regularly down the line.

Kratom and cannabis helped me stop drinking. I mainly just vape flowers, dab concentrates and take kratom these days...better for the fizeek... They're good legal (if you're in a legal state) plant alternatives to alcohol. A good 3-4g dose of white Kratom mixed in apple sauce or lemon water will put me in a very happy mood, motivate me, make me want to socialize with people, give me clean energy, euphoria, increase my focus on whatever task im doing, and makes boring tasks like stocking or cleaning fun. great for going out. its a plant in the coffee family that naturally grows in the jungles of south east asia, its good for the immune system, good for diarrhea, and if you take too much you'll just throw it up.

A lot of people who are quitting alcohol and other drugs benefit from it. Online vendors like Kratom Virtue are good quality and the prices are pretty cheap. i ordered a sample of their White Horn and Gold elephant and they were nice. Socal herbal remedies also has high quality kratom. i would not recommend gas station kratom as the quality is probably lower. I dont really mess with the red strains as they can be too sedating for me but my brother likes to use them for its sleep and pain killing properties. I prefer the white and greens, strains with great euphoria, mood stimulation and motivation. Kratom wont show up on a drug test but cannabis will. I recommend you give both a try to see if you like it. i and many others have benefited from both.

Weed is addictive but I've seen cats quit with no issues. Me on the other hand [emoji]128528[/emoji]. But love herb. Not drinking is better for me. I can easily go out and not drink. I pull way more when I ain't sippin.

if it can be kicked with no issues what makes it addictive? isnt that the whole point of addiction?

Bruh that actually sounds extremely depressing you should talk to somebody.

Depressed and open minded to the world and all it stand for is far and between. Not depressed just see and know what's ahead and coming. Prepare for the worst that way when it comes I already knew the outcome #FoodForThought

I hear you but opting for 'stronger pills' isn't the answer either.

Best advice for anyone go Vegan, take up Yoga and become a runner and flourish :smokin

This is kind of off-topic but for those struggling with opiate addiction, Kratom works wonders.
I've been prescribed opiates to combat constant chronic pain for about 2 years now and I've used kratom several times to successfully decrease my dosage without withdrawal symptoms. Kratom itself is not an opiate but it reacts with the same receptors in the brain as real opiates, essentially tricking your brain into thinking you've ingested opiates and alleviating your withdrawal symptoms as a result.
Even lowering my Tramadol dosage by a mere ~20mg from 550mg would almost immediately give me the chills and sweats, irritation and electric shocks in my head and arms. Taking some kratom makes all that disappear immediately.
I'm now down to 400mg without any withdrawal symptoms. I still have to use kratom for now but my body will be adjusted to 400mg again soon and then I can simply discontinue the kratom. I was a bit skeptical about using kratom for this purpose as none of my specialists had ever heard of it but it worked miraculously well. I've never had any adverse effects from discontinuing the kratom after it has achieved its goal.

Some great advice in here.

OP ive watched my sister stay sober for over a year now. She has struggled to turn her life style around and i know it is not easy. She has taken to cycling as an outlet. She also has run a half marathon in that time. The hardest thing for her seems to be work stress and being single. She needs some one to turn to that will help her deal with that and there isn't anyone. But she never goes out to the bar and tries to avoid situations where she knows she will be tempted. It has gotten easier for her over time but its still a struggle.

Good luck op and def listen to some of the advice in here. Find a hobby. Get up early go to some farmers markets, learn to cook, take up some physical activity. The hardest part is making new sober friends. But if you base your new activities on healthy things you'd be surprised at the amount of people that don't base their activities around alcohol and drugs.

Work out. Pick up a new hobby like cycling or golf. Golf can become addictive, great exercise if you walk.

Stay strong, my dad and brother constantly struggle with alcohol issues.

Working out and learning to cook are great ideas OP.

Can't believe people in this thread are encouraging a recovering alcoholic to drink again. OP don't listen to people who are telling you that going out sober is boring, those are the same people who are usually boring or shy when they aren't drinking, no real personality.  That mindset is the majority right now and you're in a position where you can better yourself so don't get caught up.

Best of luck to you.

Weed is addictive though. Da symptoms are there.

Tim start listening to more positive music too. Get your frequency right.

I thought weed isn't physically addictive. You don't go through withdrawls. At least that's what one of my textbooks told me. People are just weak and can't stop a habit / behavior.

It's not physically addictive at all, period. It can be "mentally addictive" but like someone else said no different than fastfood or chocolate etc.
