I've been at my job for a few months. Besides some issues (previous employees projects have had issues that I have to fix) I like it here. Im a project manager for a retail construction company. My friend hooked me up with this job

Now I graduated with a degree in graphic design. So im working in an area that isn't my field.

Crazy thing is im just browsing the Web at work today and went on one of my clients websites. Clothing company called rag & bone. They are hiring and need a graphic designer!

Id hate to leave after I've only been here for 3 months, but at the same time I could be doing something in my field.

Figure i would apply for it anyways and call my client and tell her about it, maybe she could help out or something like that

Any input?

You need to be very careful and make sure that your client doesn't snitch to your current company. Either way, it doesn't hurt to apply and see what's good.

And yes, knowing someone at the company >>>>>> applying blind

go for it...if that's what you really want to do.

it seems you would be much happier

I say do whatever is good for you.

Even if your friend hooked you up, they hired a graphic designer to do project manager work. I think it would be easy to replace you.

If your friend went through jumps and hurdles to get you this job, or not, you should probably talk to him/her about it too.

It's not selfish. Youre going to be let down in the future anyway by someone else doing something considered more "selfish", like another employee snitching to get a promotions, or company laying off to save money or company selling leaving people in the dust, so just do what is best for you.
