I feel like before Kanye went to adidas there was no competition for Nike in terms of streetwear/hypebeast... at least from what I see.

I aint see nothing on instagram for adidas from accounts like complex, hypebeast, etc back then.

But ever since Ye' jumped on adidas, it seems like it helped adidas big time by attracting the streetwear audience.

the NMD + Boosts are the hype right now and they were big last year too. How much credit should be given to Kanye?

just saw this article posted in 2015
Adidas racked up 78.8 million likes on its account, @adidasoriginals, likely due to the insane popularity of its Yeezy Boost collaboration with Kanye West. Nike, even across its @nike,@nikesportswear, and @jumpman23  (Jordan) brands, couldn't keep up with the popularity of Yeezy.

They have been doing it with active wear and collabs pre Kanye... Think Europe and US Soccer wear. Although, he did definitely help boost overall.

it is still a fraction of the business Nike does and they still can capture the active wear sector.

Man Pharrell & Kanye literally give them a huge boost when it came down to the street wear & reaching out to the younger crowd . It's crazy how much competition they bring to the table now .

I'm a consumer, why would I care about the reason for a product's popularity? I saw them in store, tried them on and loved them. Then I bought them.

Okay so you're saying that's the case for everyone else who bought them?

People love riding the waves. There's a ton of people who go out and buy exactly what Kanye wears.

Not the first brand Kanye has helped.

I mean look no further than hypebeast or KTT.com, or he'll just look at some NTers. Cats love them some Kanye.

Adidas has completely reinvented themselves in the perception of the millenials and Kanye was a big part of that. NT would never admit that though because a lot of people on here are vehemently anti-Kanye to offset the blind slurpage of him. They find some sort of weird pride in being anti-trendy or not letting celebs influence what they do or wear at all.

However, they also came with new, innovative and good product. They couldn't just throw a pair of Kobe 2's on Kanye and expect him to rejuvenate the brand, they came with heat on their part.

It was a combo of good product, good marketing and Kanye increasing the visibility of that new Adidas. Even if you don't necessarily buy a a pair of sneakers because Kanye wore them, he is a factor in your purchase if you see Ultra Boosts on an IG page or post that wasn't posting the shoe or even covering Adidas period before Ye started ******* with them.

I had zero pair of Adidas in 2014. Flash forward to 2016 I have 10.

I believe the Yeezy is his sole shoe not all the others or clothes. Plus the other shoes are actually better than the Yeezy, once you get a pair of Yeezys you realize you've been had.

I mean sure but they also started putting out good products( not like they hadn't before) but Kanye himself can't make a bad shoe desirable
