Better off letting the thread rest.

Interesting, but what makes the Celtics the perfect team? They've got no shot at the east till LeBron switches teams or massively declines. So probably 3+ years
I didn't mean perfect as in the best position to win; it's just that they and the Lakers are the most legendary franchises in NBA history.  If Isaiah continues to get better, it will be as the leader of one side of the biggest rivalry in basketball.  The Celtics and Lakers are starting to rebuild at the same time (Celtics starting to get good again after the Big 3 left, Lakers have a promising young core after the departure of Kobe), so I would love to see that particular rivalry catch fire again in a year or two.  If Isaiah is still part of the team by then, then he's going to get a ton of media attention.
Ya but what tech what they market for another small guy? They have quickness and traction with kyrie, and flyknit lowtops with kobe. A new cushion or nike free in more shoes? Nike needs a new foam. Lunarlon is my fav but bottoms out too fast. Something low profile and responsive. Would be perfect for IT too.
Yeah, like you said, a new cushioning would be nice.  Kind of bridge the gap between Kobe and Kyrie, low enough to have courtfeel, but a little more cushion because Isaiah isn't quite as explosive as Kyrie.  I'm not sure what the material on the Kobe 12 is going to be, though.  It would be kind of odd to have their best tech on a sig for a player who isn't playing anymore.  That's why I thought they gave the KD 9 flyknit, kinda passing the flyknit torch on to the next best guy.

So what models are those that I posted?

They're *

Honestly as "ugly" as they are, I been looking for a sturdy bball shoe for strictly playing in. I'm a bigger guy, Kobe's lowtops are decent, but I assume lebrons would be more ideal. My hate for lebron has kept me from buying any of his kicks  but those samples look very...'function over form' to me, I'd be interested in a pair.

Hows the performance on the 13's?

Hard to say. There is definitely nobody in the pipeline that is remotely close to Lebron caliber, and the most interesting guys are signed with other brands. Ben Simmons has great potential as a signature athlete based on his handles and passing ability, but he needs to learn to shoot and become a bona fide superstar first.
once kd starts getting rings you don't think that will boost his stock and make him their top sig athlete once Bron retires?
And I could definitely see DLo or Ben being the next sig athlete
hell maybe even KAT

KD is definitely already part of the elite. I'd put him at 3 after Lebron and Steph. It will be interesting to watch how things play out in Golden State this year with him and Curry on the same team. I feel KD is the better individual player. It's hard to say what happens after Bron retires because that's still several years away. It's possible KD will no longer be a superstar at that point either.

The one guy who screams signature athlete but won't get a shoe unless something changes is Westbrook. It's too bad he's locked into Jordan Brand.

Nike typically starts production about 3 months prior to RD and we're about 2 months away from ball season. They either have the factory in China under serious lockdown or they are releasing some basic joint that needs only about a month, month and a half of production time. :x

So lighthearted banter is discouraged by members here, sans topic?! Befuddling. That said, there seems to be only three players that are generating enough juice to be considered a major player in the sig world. We know that LeBron is one of them, regardless of the shoddy design team that Nike surrounds him with. This really speaks to his power, because if Nike had a better shoe designer for LeBron, especially with his willingness to take public political positions pro global citizentry, Steph Curry would have his niche, but he'd be no threat in regard to superiority. This is comparing Steph and LeBron, not Nike versus UA. I also find it interesting that Durant is going to be right next to Curry during the season. Curry has his usual year, U A does great. Durant becomes subpar his usual stats, Nike is going to take an even bigger hit with Durant's sig line. It has been a long time since wearing Nike has not been considered cool. Outside of LeBron, there isn't one player on Nike's entire roster that is considered current, a clear representation on what is going on in the world today. Nike seems to be out of touch.

I wouldn't worry too much about what the others feel. You bring up some good points, Nike's had a good run and they've had a similar phase like this in the late 90s and early 00s. Their main guy MJ retired for the second time and Garnett, Webber, et al weren't resounding with the public. I would say that Reebok was doing exceptionally well with Iverson at that time. Things picked up when they signed Kobe, Lebron, VC, etc... It also helped that they were creating quality products with good design language.

I think with Phil Knight gone, the company under Mark Parker is too focused on minimalist and modular designs. This would be fine if they weren't charging a premium for product that is inherently both cheaper to design and manufacture. I'm not saying that the UA Curry sneakers are better designed/made vs. Nike product, in fact they are just as basic looking as Nike/JB product and you could easily swap logos between the two but I think UA gets the price point correct.

Nike needs to reset their prices back to the early '00s and have signatures that cost no more than $130-140. Slapping $200 MSRPs on product and then sending it straight to the outlets for $140 is insulting to consumers. We haven't seen the XIVs yet but looking at Nike design trends it's a safe bet to say that they aren't worth $175.

It's weird to see the Lebron line fall so far, even after the dude literally just won his 3rd ring. This shows you the Nike REALLY screwed up the designs and cws that have released the past few years.

how can the line fall after the title if the 14's are not being sold yet ?
since they won the chip a month and a half ago what more than a couple lows have released ?
and those horrible soldiers seem to be well recvd
