I've thought about one of those fade styles, gotta say some look fly but I feel like I would love it for like a month then spend years angrily regrowing my lost locs once I got sick of it.

I grew my joints out a couple years ago they got about 3 inches long and I cut em cause I was impatient. Been kicking myself is the *** ever since :smh:

How did your girl take to you pushing that on her?

Was she natural beforehand?
 
Been thinking about it since my edges are thin, but it grows in when I grow it and the rest is gucci. Only prob is that in between period, corporate management type roles I don't think my client base will have the patience.
 
One of my good homies been growing his since we were kids, by high school it was kind of by his waist and he maintains it at that length.

he looks like he could be an extra in shottas.

Some tips over my 4 year journey so far:

Cover your head when sleep. Even when ur tired and just layed down and you just remember to put it on. Get up and do it. Trust me

Wash your hair. I was mines 3 times a week only because i work with alot of dust. Once a week should be efficient tho for new locs

Let em hang. I kno you happy you got that ponytail length but let them hang. Pulled tight to much can be damaging.

Choose your style you want to go with and stick with it. Ex. Freeform, interlocking ect.

Colors are damamging to hair but can be done properly with natural ingredients.

The first 6 months to a year is going to be rough. Cop a hat if you cant deal with it but you will look like a bum theres no way around it. If you can make it thru this stage i promise you you will florish with the power of all mighty zues himself.
