Pat Haden's best friend and mouthpiece, USC's recently abdicated Associate Athletic Director, John McKay Jr., was on the radio last week talking about USC, Pat Haden, and for an inexplicable reason Sark's firing.

Some highlights:

- When asked about the way Haden handled Sark's hiring: He claimed that they had reached out to several people and that no one wanted the job so they took the best candidated available.

    -  Jack Del Rio is on record as saying he wanted the job and had already began reaching out to people and putting a staff together when Haden told him they wouldn't wait and were going with Sarkisian

    -  Gerard Martinez, a USC writer, got so mad about the claim that no one wanted the job that he straight up said "I spoke to Chris Petersen. He wanted it. They refused to pay him."

- When asked about the way Haden handled Sark's firing: He told them that Sark wasn't fired because of alcoholism and that the real reason hasn't been made public yet.

    -  They're in an ongoing civil suit. Why the hell is he talking about undisclosed details of that suit on public radio? Because he's a douche bag, watch Sark respond.

On Steve Sarkisian: “The decision (to hire him) I regret looking back on it. There were very few people interested in the USC job at that time. The true story about Steve and what happened to him at USC have not come out.”

On Lane Kiffin: “It was not an easy decision. There was a lot that I can’t talk about it.”

On Clay Helton: “I know him really well. I am a big fan of him. I hear the rumblings he’s in trouble if he doesn’t beat Stanford. Clay deserves time.”

On Lynn Swann: “I think Lynn felt like, and I guess I felt like, that Lynn needed his own people there. It’s his deal now. Pat was leaving and I may as well leave at the same time.”

My take: Few people interested in the USC job? Yes, if you do not call them. Chris Petersen was interested. Kyle Whittingham would have been. Tom Herman would have been. Do some legwork and find someone.

And it sure sounds like he left more on Swann’s wishes than his own.

I'm not going to lie... As much as I just want SC to be good, if only for the sake of college football as a whole, I'm starting to enjoy the annual coaching carousel.

I don't see Walker Little going to Texas. He's in the same mold of Solomon Thomas. A player who Texas was super high on, but eventually Stanford won out.

In all fairness, though, John Baxter is one of the best special teams coaches in the country. That's an anomaly.

YEP. Completely agreed.

This is full on panic mode from Helton. He always wanted Sam but knew if he selected him, Browne was transferring. Helton wasn't about to go into his first season with Darold, Greene, and Finks as his QB's. His job was hard enough already.

Disappointed Haden isn't around to deal with this nonsense of a year.

Easy work for Swann though. Boosters love him. He'll get them to pony up $10M per for Herman.

Can;t wait for him.

oh I know, I just feel like it would only be right for him to have to face the music. He escaped pretty unscathed.

Legit hired Helton because he thought it would inspire the team to beat Stanford and get back into the Rose Bowl. His way of riding off into the sunset.

Nobody can tell me any different. I'm 110% convinced.
