Doesn't mean much but couple of the mods for Michigans rivals site said early that Holmes was all UCLA because of a connection with his dad. I know things change but this one looks like it may come full circle.

Isn't his old man tight with the DB coach at UCLA???
Demetrice Martin, yeah. They've apparently been talking about Darnay being the dude to build UCLA into a dynasty since he was a freshman. The dad said something about not wanting him to go to a school with history already but somewhere where he'll be THE historical player

He's been all UCLA for years. tO$U got in on him earlier in the year and he had no contact with SC until about October when he took a surprise unofficial because of a connection Kevon Seymour and a support staff guy made between Holmes Sr. and Clancy P. Then the whole family came on an official and SC made Holmes the only kid visiting that weekend and gave him the whole red carpet treatment and apparently jumped into his top 2 off that alone.

The dad's been blocking SC the whole time though. Clay Helton was the only of the 3 head coaches that didn't get an in-home because the dad canceled it the day of.

Obviously, don't be surprised when he washes out or transfers. Why would you put your kid in a position where he isn't happy.. never makes sense. If my kid got into Stanford and Cal and liked cal more, go to cal

What I don't understand is why go to school because of Demetrice Martin, when he and the rest of the staff are already on the hot seat.

It's one thing if you WANT to be at UCLA because it's a great school, which it is, but going there for a position coach? A possibly lame duck one at that? Huh?

Exactly, you got a QB who can barely move his limbs and is one hit away from being 4-8. Makes no sense. As a Stanford fan I love it cause he ain't gonna make ucla that much better, SC would have been scary. I won't be surprised if he changes in the next month

you all talking about ucla as if that school sucks and he won't get any pub playing there.

not a bad move at all. All fine decisions. i know if my kid had to choose between ucla and usc, i'd give my blessing for him to choose ucla. Gorgeous campus/area to live in, great education. 5 minutes from me. i just hate that drive to pasadena.

It wasnt his decision is the point

UCLA is indeed an awesome school and beautiful campus.

But that's not why his dad is forcing him there and that's what people are questioning I think. They're from Pasadena, so it's not like Darnay doesn't know what UCLA is about.

oh i gotta a problem with that for sure. USC wouldn't have been his decision either.

He really does have a tOSU look to him. Bags must not have been heavy enough.

Yeah I mean I wish he came to osu but I hate parents making this decision about them and stealing it from the kids

In regards to tO$U, it was his favorite school of the bunch, but he also had reservations about the cold and distance. He preferred USC to UCLA. USC was going to be his compromise pick.

UCLA was all his dad's choice.
