Black Lives Matter: Why the dual agenda?

What about light skinned black people and biracial black people?
One of the creators are light-skinned.

You not black huh? no way youre doing all this nit-picking due to the lack of the particular words being omitted that you can be.

Black people should be the main ones nitpicking groups that are supposed to represent us.

You don't get a pass just cuz you put black in the name and yell in the streets.

wouldn't/shouldn't the nitpicking of black people be to better/improve the organization, and not tear it apart?

Its the same issue I have with folks "criticizing" Killer Mike and others efforts to get folks (of all colors) to open accounts. Detractors seem to want to bring up the FDIC or the Federal Reserve being ran by whites. that's not the goal nor purpose of opening the accounts.

Yes I definitely agree with this.

Well those things would apprear to be true in the case of BLM, as they're advocating for one specific purpose (all black lives), yet delineating that subgroup of the black community.

But in fairness, OP, they did mention other subgroups as well (the older members of the community, the youth, criminals, etc).

I can see why it would seem like they are trying to advance the LGBT struggle as well, since you identified that the founders are a part of that community as well, but I don't believe it's their true intention to have it piggybacked on blm to that degree.

OP brought up other "sub-groups" in an attempt to be intentionally obtuse and mask his distaste for their explicit affirmation of black women and black folks with LGBTQ identities. You seem to be co-signing that position.

You seem to have missed the part where I pointed out that the LGBTQ community wasn't the only subgroup that was identified. In fact, it's clear that the remainder of my response is directed to the homie Seeko after I wrote  "But in fairness, OP".

But the fact that there is another agenda besides "black" lives makes it a trojan horse to me. What if I used the killings of black children/people to push my agenda that "black lives matter" and on my mission statement, I included that black business owners are also oppressed and marginalized and not included in the main discussion of black lives, so I used some of the blm steam and leverage to find my business?

Would we have a problem? Are black business owners not as human as a lgbt people?

There is no other agenda. The agenda is about Police Brutality towards Black people. Are Black business owners being oppressed and marginalized at the level that Black LGBT are?

These are the same arguments used by those that try to discredit Police Brutality against Blacks being a thing.

Your life should've BEEN mattered, IMO. Only those who allowed themselves to be considered second class citizens, or self-haters are submitting to these new movements. They have a lot of catching up to do

I misread your post bro. Respect.

Let’s take a look “behind the scenes” at the much publicized “Black Lives Matter” movement started by 3 Black females … Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi (alleged to be ardent supporters of the Gay/Transgender alliance, members of the socialist/communist-oriented "Democracy Alliance" organization, and lesbians as well - having already defined themselves as “Queer Black Women”). How did this organization suddenly become so UNQUESTIONABLY “relevant” to us? More importantly, where did this organization get its funding, and why does the media exclusively turn to ITS “leaders” to get the Black community’s narrative for “social justice”?

Well Fam; here’s the list of “backers” funding YOUR ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. (See pics below)

(1) Rob McKay, heir to Taco Bell, is said to be the main funding conduit to the Black Lives Matter movement through his “Democracy Alliance” (DA) organization (alleged to be a communist/socialist inspired front). Combined donations to the groups from the DA organization now exceed $500 million...
(2) Multi-billionaire George Soros contributed over $30 million in seed money.
(2) According to Essence magazine, Google gave $2.35 million in grants to activist organizations addressing the “racial injustices that have swept the nation.”
(4) Hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer—who raised hundreds-of-millions of dollars for the presidential campaigns of both President Obama, and now Hillary Clinton. Total: 78 million
(5) Billionaire Michael Bloomberg - 27.7 million
(6) Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook erected a huge “Black Lives Matter” sign at its Menlo Park headquarters on the 8th, just hours after the Dallas “shootout”. Hmmm...

Are you getting the picture yet? If not, I’d normally say give it time and it will all eventually come “into focus”. But you DON’T have time. There are forces embedded within your community, along with the media images that favorably support their tactics and goals; forces that you have UN-critically accepted as being “on your side”.

I always see folks talk about Soros, and the funding. How is that relevant to the message? Is that proof that the message is being tainted somehow?

Any proof on the Soros connection/funding? The movement seems way too fragmented IMO.

So you admired the movement/organization until you found out that it's led by black women who also identify with the LGBT community and believe that the inclusion and value of all black lives must be a priority? You actually have a problem with that position?

:rolleyes

I read the dude's statement and came nowhere close to what you're saying.

Sidenote: Nothing is worse than those black chicks/dudes that take every minute to **** on other black chicks/dudes

Ultra black feminists trying to shame dudes for any and everything while showing extreme levels of hesitance to criticizing white men.

Cornball dudes thinking white yambs posses God-like characteristics while simultaneously degrading black women with PLAYED out stereotypes.

All bad, yo

It's related to him funding some of the Ferguson protestors.

I think people have this idea that he is directly funding everything they do which is false. But BLM does receive money from think-tanks and other donors who have different political agendas.

You have to remember BLM is greater than its origins at this point. There are a bunch of smaller groups that make up BLM.

I'm not sure what exactly your issue is or how exactly you came to that conclusion.

Seems like they're trying to be inclusive to all black people, but maybe I'm reading it wrong.
That is what its about.

They are just saying BlackLivesMatter and reminding some black people that also includes black women and black LGBTQ people as well. They take the time to point out those subgroups  because in our black community there are some who do not treat black women with respect and are misogynistic. There are some who are homophobic and transphobic and don't care about LGBTQ issues even though their are black people in those communities and that they are still part of out community as well.

So the point of them saying that is because if a black women is dealing with sexism in the work place we all black people should be just as up in arms about that because she is a black life as well.

When a gay black person is being discriminated against because of homophobia we all as black people should be up in arms to defend them cause they are a black life as well.

If a trans black person is killed because they are trans we all as black should fight for their justice just as much as well because that is a black life as well.

Them bringing up the subgroups really comes down to making it ok and acceptable for all types of black people to be faces and for the movement  AND to have all types of black peoples including those subgroups in our black community backed by the movement.

"keeping straight cis Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all"

That portion of the mission statement is what I have an issue with though. I understand the need to empower black men but not if it's aligned with embracing the same sexism that black women, as well as gay/trans hate, that they endure in society as a whole.

Your issue with their position and with their affirmation of all different kinds of black identities is exactly the reason they felt compelled to make their statement in the first place.

/thread.

Thats taken out of context the whole quote actually says this

"It goes beyond the narrow nationalism that can be prevalent within Black communities, which merely call on Black people to love Black, live Black and buy Black, keeping straight cis Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all.

Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all Black lives along the gender spectrum.  It centers those that have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.  It is a tactic to (re)build the Black liberation movement."

So within context the movement is trying to not be that kind of movement at all its trying to be one that goes beyond one that only puts the focus on black men and marginalizing other people in the black community.

Seems like your an agent provocateur and can't seem to understand that they are just giving a shoutout to a sub group of black people that have done a lot for civil rights but don't get the attention becuase they are looked down upon and/or were in the closet, from there own kind.

You mad they didn't say atlien seeko and his sensibilities.

anything funded by George Soros should be heavily scrutinized...
Why should George Soros funding BLM be heavily scrutinized?

George has dirty hands. Look into things he's done.

He's done good and bad like anyone else, he is a philanthropist and uses his money to push his various agendas.

He's not directly funding BLM to my knowledge but he did hire/fund protestors and agitators during the unrest in Ferguson.

He has a self admitted god complex. Whether you view that as good or bad is up to your perception of his actions.

Damn op I was hoping to go longer without finding out what cis meant. I'm disappointed in this thread and stopped reading at that word
