I Can't Sleep, Halp!!!!!

work out. melatonin.
I tried melatonin, but it just makes me groggy and made me oversleep a couple of times, if I ever do take it, I do it on the weekend, it does make me sleepy effectively. I haven't used it in a while though.

Stay away from pills and drugs. Like others suggested rub one out then go find yourself a nice indica strain, you're welcome. :smokin

just try new things. it took me awhile to find my thing, but thankfully i did.

i use a sleeping mask, ear plugs, and put a small pillow under my lower back. i usually fall asleep in under 20 mins

Been using OTC sleeping pills for years. When them bad boys kick in after a long day :smokin

I did too. I only use them now when I absolutely have to(maybe once ever 2 months). Its a strong anticholinergic and long term use can increase the risk of dementia among other things.

I have terrible insomnia and can attest melatonin works. I dont know how it is compared to actual sleeping pills but def enhances falling asleep

Run two miles at dawn
2 turkey sandwiches before bed
1 tablespoon of honey
Large glass of water
See you in the morning

Look man, if you don't think there is anything wrong with you physically **** taking pills. It's not worth the potential side effects and it only serves as a band-aid for an easily rectified problem.

I would say for the high majority (this is coming confidently out of my ***), people that have problem sleeping have a psychological issue and not a physical one.

I use to have insomnia as well, I could go in my room right now and be out in 5 minutes.

You need to remove all the BS out of your room. No TV, no laptop, no phone, no nothing. Ban all electronics from your bedroom until you can control yourself. They only serve as a mental distraction when you should be winding down your thoughts and awareness.

Make your room as dark as possible. I sleep pretty much in pitch black, my one light source comes from my alarm clock which is dimmed and on the other side of my room. It makes the transition go a lot faster.

That alone should have you going to sleep fairly quickly. Other recommendations are programs like f.lux that red-shifts your monitor after sun down to keep from blinding you and emulate the day/night cycle.

Unfiltered blue light from your phone or monitor screen only tricks your body into believing it's still daylight functioning hours.

Put these into play and I guarantee you'll be out in no time OP. Unless you've got some mutated genes that have interplay with your ability to sleep the only problem is your mind.

Cosign everything said above. As a fellow insomniac I know how it feels. Trust me the last thing you want is to depend on a prescription for sleep. I was on ambien for a few months and getting off that was a nightmare. Then my doctor put me on remeron, which is technically an antidepressant but he decided to off label it for sleep. I could sleep for almost 12 hours sometimes, lose almost half my day. I also started having issues with my memory.

It **** a few years but I'm finally sleeping naturally again. Benadryl or melatonin usually get the job done. Less is more with melatonin, if it makes you groggy try lowering the dose. I had the same issue and lowered my dose from 5/10 mg to 3 and the drowsiness went away.

Like some NT'ers I have trouble falling asleep even with the lights out and no electronics on around me. Some of us have more trouble falling asleep than others. NT, for those of you that have a hard time falling asleep within minutes, what methods do you use? Sometimes I just count numbers in my head really fast until I lose my place and go to sleep. I vary it, sometimes counting to 1K, and some nights I just count to 10 repeatedly until I doze off. What methods do y'all use?
I have to want to sleep, then I need space for my legs, I need a good temperature, rather too cold than too hot, I'm used to sleep with 2 quilts, sometimes a beanie, and I need ear plugs. Then I have to concentrate in order to think about nothing and I have to not move. I have a good sleep on my right side, I have difficulties to feel asleep on my back and sometimes make nightmares, and I have a more conscious sleep on my left side. Autosuggestion can also help you, even to reach lucid dreams, which is fascinating.

Sorry if I dug up an old topic but sleep is something very interZzZz

Exercise and melatonin.

Also try to remind yourself that, depending on how old you are, you've fallen asleep literally thousands of times. You body wants to sleep, and will sleep when necessary.

The only times I experience insomnia is when I get anxiety. I don't like to sleep, So falling asleep is tough sometimes.

The other times, and this is a bigger reason than people might think, is alcoholic insomnia.

The night after going to sleep drunk, I ALWAYS have trouble sleeping. To the point that occasionally, if I drank enough, I won't sleep at all the next night. It actually happened to me last night. Did not sleep a minute. I'm exhausted and stressed but I know it's because of alcohol and my body will readjust.

Might have to quit drinkin altogether. The issues it causes me with sleep just aren't worth it.

Started working overnight 12hr shifts a few months back and sleep hasn’t been the same since :smh:.
I’ve been trying a sleep mask but will pick up some blackout shades in the near future

Nyquil.... every night :frown:
I can nap and sleep throughout the day no problem. At night? It's a struggle.

Melatonin

It definitely works. Start with 10mg and slowly decrease until you dont need it.

Avoid video games at afternoon/evening, do not drink Coca Cola, take a hot bath, clarify your mind, think about things you like or you would like, sleep in real darkness with no electric stuff, cellular phone, no noise, and focus about what would make you happy, what make you happy or about nothing and always try to do not move, I got more insomnias when I try to sleep on the back.

And food is important, too much mean sometimes bad sleep or nightmares, not enough difficulties to sleep and to awake...

Now I have a bad sleep so I take a time everyday at lunch time.

Bananas and milk make me drowse too

reading on my kindle usually can get me sleep. got the paperwhite version show the monitor doesnt really shine or effect my eyes
dont know if it's the cold weather or my bed, been getting lower back pain while sleeping

f.lux is a software which change luminosity of your monitor depending on the hour, when I used it I notice I went to bed earlier...

f.lux on every electronic device you own.

No BS in your bedroom when its time for bed. Don't play on your phone, dont have a TV on, the only light should be from your alarm clock.

That's pretty much it. I fall asleep in 5 minutes.

when you're trying to sleep, it's hard to stop thinking about getting to sleep.
try this while you're laying down with your eyes closed, in your head not aloud say whatever pops into your mind
if you see a tree, a shoe, a shape whatever it is, eventually you won't be thinking about trying to get to sleep and you'll fall asleep
that helps me
I sometimes also go through naming the states in alphabetical order, or counting down backwards from 200 or 300 by 3, focusing on these random tasks keeps your mind off trying to force sleep
