woody23 Last time, Kickz101 in Melbourne had 500 pairs. I heard it was allocation error but Royals sat in Australia last time. I don't think that'll be the case this time around. I have a lot of friends over there that want them. All Foot Locker's are live raffles the morning of. I believe you grab a raffle ticket Thursday and Friday. Other stores will be FCFS.
That's wild. My local spot didn't even get a FSR. I was first in line and I had to go .5 size up.

I remember that whole fiasco and everyone trying to get a hold of Kickz101 for a pair. In 2013, I had ended up copping a size 13 from Livestock. Long story short, I saw it sitting on the website about 2 hours after the drop on Livestock. Guess it was either a cancelled order or something. Had to then look for my size 10 after selling that size 13 on ebay. Definitely was a lot of work back then to get a hold of a pair, for most people at least.

Ahh yes, the Royal 1's. Everybody's favorite og cw since...2013. Once these are easily attainable all the jokers who were willing to sell their mother for a pair a few years ago will be like "I'm aight on these..."
Only thing more annoying in recent Jordan lore are the Shadows. Nobody ever game two damns about no shadows and they weren't hard to get on release day. Turns out they were somewhat limited and prices skyrocket and people are like "oh man, I got to get the Shadow 1's." I'll sell you my pair for $400... (jk)

I fell in love in 2008 ads copped the 2009 shadows. Never liked the breds because red is overused and overrated. A lot of folks did fall in love in 2013 but after 2011 many things changed. Limited shoes became beloved while classics that became wide available like the grape 5 because lame. It is what it is though. Many folks weren't able to cop till 2013 though

Part of me can understand since they only were retroed once since og but, alot of resellers were born on these in 13.

Yeah, the day the Shadows released it was FCFS at my local Sheikh and there was no line in front of that store. Everyone was waiting on the Toro 4 across to the Shoe Palace, pretty sure they released that day. Eventually a few people lined up behind me shortly after and come to find out they had only one size run of the Shadows.

Only reason why prices skyrocketed on them was because of the black/red 1 release in 2013 and more after frags released. Same happened with the Black Toes from 2013 as well.

Coming in late to this thread, but I remember in 2001 all of the 1's were completely overshadowed by the black cement/ tb3's and white red low 16's. Even though they sold well, I don't remember much hype for these. Shoot, re-sell was really weak for these for the longest time. It wasn't until the dunk/ SB craze from 2005 that made them valuable again. 15 years later, these are worth 2x as much than 11's. Who woulda thought.. lol

Yeah I remember striking out on finishline. Ended up buying a skype calling card and trying to order a pair about a week or so later from some shop in like Brisbane or the Gold Coast. By then it was too late.

At least 11s hype isn't like this. It sucks but anyone who tries can get 11s and not have resell be sky high if they miss out

That Wouldn't Change Hype. 1s are in trend now. Many find them to be the most versatile, even low resell stuff like the cm will sell faster on eBay than 3,4,5,6 because 1s are in trend. Only way 11s reclaim top spot is if 1s are mass produced and XIs become less available

I hope these are kinda like banneds with the locations...it was easier this way with hibbets....still in shock they got the banneds and that was the only retro 1 they still to this day have sold

Royal hype happened cuz the shoe is just that good and people didn't realize it until it was gone. Remember the last drop was in '01 and they hit deep discounts. Most people buying shoes in 2013 had never seen them in person. They were the forst OG colorway to release with the 2013 NA run and no one had any indication they would be as limited as they were. People had been off of 1s for years due to mid cut, leather tongues, jumpman on tongue and back, and plastic leather. That royal drop was really a breath of fresh air. People slept for a variety of reasons and there was a ton of regret. I actually saw 1s coming back before the NA came just based on style trends in 2012. IMO royals have always been the best 1 colorway and I think it just took a few months of people seeing them on feet to realize it cuz they had never really seem them before. Plus they has never been limited before.

A higher percentage of people that got copped got them to wear than a typical release. When that happens the available resale supply dries up faster and prices go up because of it. The prices did go up prior to the black/red release though and that was what made that release so difficult. The resellers were out for those cuz they saw the numbers on royals at that point (around $800 on FC if I remember correctly).
