If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches,

the following criteria are applied in the order given to determine their rankings:

1. 
   higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
2. 
   superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
3. 
   higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;
4. 
   higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;

A superior goal differential from all group stage games will only come into play after those criteria. I prefer the "classical" system but it's been like that for some time.

So the two away goals will probably prevent us from finishing the group stage before Real but it's impossible for me to be mad about that after yesterday's game. We lost three of our four key players this summer, replaced them with a lot of young talent and still manage to play a game like yesterday's against the current champions of Europe. I'm still hyped because of how well Dembele, Götze, Weigl, Pulisic etc. performed. This team will provide me with a lot of joy over the next couple of years if we manage to keep the core together. 

Also, as it's customary over here in Europe, upholding the spirit of fair play and the beautiful game of Kings, my conclusion of yesterdays game: We obviously were the better team and Real only got lucky and in no way deserved to achieve a draw.
