I'm on episode 2 it's a lil weird but I like it and yeah the lil young thotties are looking kinda fine, specially the one posted about (no pedo if underage :x )

I ain't that versed in old school hip hop but is it accurate that the song "it takes 2" or whatever it's called came out in '77 when this series is taking place??

Maybe I need to ask mom dukes [emoji]129300[/emoji] lol

Just finished the series.. The grand finale was too LIT. If you enjoyed this, I'd def recommend checking out Beat Street, Style Wars (documentary), and Wild Style.Only prob I had was with Jaden Smith.. that kid is such a cornball. I hope he gets the Ramo treatment later on.

Who Sampled is a great resource for most sample questions. Some still remain mysteries.

If you guys have time, watch Style Wars. If you don't have time, watch the first 5 mins.

I have a feeling pt 2 of the Get Down is going to have a lot of Ed Koch vs graffiti writers, and it'll delve more into hip hop going mainstream (and graffiti going into galleries).

Have you ever seen the anniversary edition (revisited) where they go back and interview everyone? I had it and loaned it to my brother. :smh:

Zeke's desperation and over emotional behavior for chick is annoying, but it's real in a way for his age.

Yeah I have the 20th Anniversary edition. The bonus features are great, especially the interviews with all of the artists. It's crazy how DEZ became DJ Kay Slay. I remember seeing a DEZ TDS wall at the Graffiti Hall of Fame in Spanish Harlem back in the 90's, I had no idea that DEZ and Slay were the same person. It's a shame that a lot of those guys ended up poor or sick. IZ was sick when they filmed the 20th Anniversary interviews and he died a few years later. CASE 2 also passed away a few years ago. Rammellzee also died years later. It seems like the only ones who did well for themselves after Style Wars were Crazy Legs, Mare, Lady Pink, Dez and Skeme.

I went to school at the Graffiti Hall Of Fame. Tats Cru is still out there every year like clockwork as far as I can tell.:pimp:

I don't think I've ever sat down and watched Style Wars all the way through, but I need to.

That's dope. I've been checking out graffiti there for almost 20 years. Back in the day, before it was renovated, you could sneak in there through a hole in the fence. Looks like the school got some grant money over the years. They put a track on there, fresh turf. It's gated now, you could only go on days that James TOP does his graffiti exhibitions. The last live showcase I attended was in 2012. I met Grandmaster Caz, DJ Eclipse (from Non-Phixion and Fat Beats), Lil' Rodney C (from Double Trouble), Vast Aire (from Cannibal Ox). Saw a bunch of graffiti artists do live pieces, including TONY 164, NIC 707 and DJ JS-1 who writes JERMS (Rocksteady Crew).

Also caught some of the CASE 2 tribute a month earlier. The spot was closed though so I took flicks through the fence

The uncle and mom's used to get down and that's really his daughter. That's why he was going so hard for her.

Showed my moms and pops this show cuz thisis exactly where they grew up at and they said this show shows pretty much everything going on in the bx at that time.music , fashion dancing , drugs , violence ,even karate was huge around that time.they got that instant nostalgia...anyway show is dope.i write that cheesey stuff off as being some of that 70s disco stuff.but the hip hop stuff is on point

Yo man, that scene in Episode 6 where at the same time, Lesgold gets Moreno, Annie gets Wolf, and Gunns is prepping Books, man that was so dope.

Baz is on one sometimes, but that was so fly.
Lesgold fisting Moreno's throat and then making him eat the P, I wonder if she plays the record now?

Pause on Jaden. They ****** up "Thor" as a nickname. Now every time Syndergaard bout to throw I'm going to see a Jaden tweet in my head.

I want my pops and my uncle to see the show to hear their input. They grew up in the BX in the 70s. My uncle used to go to school with Herc's sister. My dad would tell about all the differrent gangs, the Son of Sam, the '77 blackout. They both had afros like Zeke and were into the kung fu flicks, especially my uncle. He schooled me on all the Run Run Shaw joints. They also grew up with some graf writers. My dad was more into Salsa but my uncle was about Hip Hop and break records.

On episode 3, good so far. As someone who was actually born in the early 80's. I sort of get the feel of it, but you can't recreate it. Good so far though. Too many scenes shot in Brooklyn tho lol
