Rough Read: Tweets Show How Sexual Assault Can Affect Relationships

With DNA, surveillance cams, everybody owning cell phones...do you honestly think any guy is doing Rape?

Story seems suspicious for two reasons:

#1. How was the rapist certain her spouse/other occupants weren't home?
#2. How does he get from the building, to the parking lot, to the wooded area without any other tenants in the complex hearing any kicks or screams?

The "Drunken Night Out" Regret seems to be a common thing (as Flesh Prince posted), also 1 out of 4 women has mental illness and will stage elaborate scenarios 2 be the center of attention.

Really, the only stories I believe is where Ghetto Youth (5 to 10 young dudes) will lure a female to a Trap House with promises of Weed/Drank (thus making her somewhat complicit) then gang rape. I can't really see one dude by himself being able to pull off a Rape, especially in a normal area - there's always some nosy person watching.

Not sure if trollin or smoking crack

Horrible unfortunate story. Problem is there's too many more like it.

I wasn't aware of how serious this was years ago but once I found out just made me really disgusted with ppl who try to blame and shame victims. See a lot of it on NT when these topics come up

EDIT

WOW @ some of the posts in here with the story is probably fake so let's focus on that instead of the topic.
Folks have the right to be skeptical, just as you have the right to decide that you want to believe it.

Some parts of the story didn't make sense to me.

But that doesn't diminish the fact that things like this do occur, and more often then not, we rarely hear about them. A part of his story that I think is very important is when he says she refused therapy, and the trauma that is associated with such a heinous act. The lack of intimacy, and vulnerability that she felt, these are key characteristics of a rape victim.

The unfortunate part of all of this is the skepticism that the topic of "rape" brings about. I never understood what individuals meant by people promoting a "culture of rape", but it has become abundantly clear of what exactly that means to me within the last year. Whenever I hear of a rape story, or someone claiming rape, it's almost parallel with false allegations. I cannot front as if I don't question the act at times myself. But to do so is the exact reason why victims have such a hard time coming forward in the fist place.

What's the resolution to this? Stop questioning whether or not rape stories are true?

As someone said earlier, it's your right to question. But I also know that a majority of rape situations aren't as heinous and violent as what was described in the story posted by OP. They're caused by someone who is close to or befriended by the victim, while still causing as much mental anguish.

I follow dude on twitter and read this the other day. I can't even imagine having to go through that.

I took him not saying that they were married at first as a sign of protecting identities through info. Based on his tweets he always does what he can to protect his identity and those he knows personally.

I mean, the obvious answer is stricter penalties for both confirmed attacks and false reports...but then that leads to all kinds of questions about what consent is (I have never in my life specifically asked for a "yes"), to what extent people can consent when intoxicated (was she drunk? was I drunk? are we drunk? who's drunker?), where personal responsibility/a reasonable assumption of permission kicks in...worse, these questions may not have objective answers.

it's a real ******* mess.

reported.

keep trash like that to yourself.

I follow dude on twitter too... such a sad story. its very strange to look at some of the comments target the truthfulness of the story. :smh:

Like is there a such thing as criminal rape and for lack of a better term "situational" rape? Like in real life I would hope no one would be hesitant to question the truthfulness of a victim in a similar situation that was outlined in the tweets. I mean the who college/drinking consent/non-consent topic could be produce a little more skepticism but Im really surprised to see it here.
