Nike still outselling adidas though. adidas is doing better lifestyle wise, but that's only a niche. Numbers wise however, as much as adidas has grown they're not in the same weight class as Nike. If Nike wanted that category back all they'd have to do is manipulate their numbers and they'd have it back. Right now they've increased supply AND price, adidas isn't selling the numbers Nike is.

Mcdonalds probably sells more burgers than 5 guys, but I like 5 guys way more than I like Mcdonalds.
