Kaep :pimp:.

Honestly didn't think it would be him doing this. Did a 180 on him. #BlackExcellence QB's :pimp:.

Hopefully, Cam sees the light. Dissapointed in him.

I was just thinking how dumb the argument of him disrespecting the military is.

every war in the past 80 years has been a useless war with other agendas. Our freedom was never at stake. Those soldiers died for some politician's and corporations' agenda. Their sacrifice hasn't been for our freedom in decades. Also, when they come back from war, they are treated like ****. How is standing up for a national anthem showing respect for the military again? Nationalism is straight up idiotic and scary at the same time. It brainwashes people.

Bomani was having a Twitter exchange with Doug Gottlieb the other day. Dude was sounding kinda suspect( Gottlieb not Bomani).

I mean I wasn't a fan of Gottlieb before but that made me even more of a non fan

Bomani was spitting the truth as usual though

He got into it today with Ryan rusillo over the kap subject. You can guess the stance rusillo took.

Bomani just schooled him, as usual.
When I see things like that it really makes me wonder. If white people are being purposely obtuse or just trolling.

Like it doesn't take half a brain to put two and two together. For whatever reason Kapernick has had enough with how things are going and wants to take a stand in his own way. No slandering military vets or people that have died. Just using his freedoms to not stand. Can a rich person not have a moral compass?

I'd prefer cam sit this one out publicly. He's proven that he struggles with articulating himself.

If you read that kaep transcript, there's no way in hell cam could've done that.

People are more upset that Kaep didn't stand for the anthem more than anything rather than understand why he's doing it. That's a little Nazi-ish if you ask me.

Cam don't wanna lose his UA deal, that's why he was tap dancing when he was asked that question.

I thought the national anthem was for prideful purposes. Honestly didn't know not participating means you're disrespecting troops.

You never know man.

One part of me says that there is no way they don't get it.

But the other part of me realizes they have the luxury of walking in this space without having to think about race.

I am SO damn proud of this dude man.

I really enjoyed how he spoke about the LACK of training a cop has to have compared to other public service positions. It is so true man.

I can't express how proud I was of dude man.

I've enjoyed seeing white people point out that Kaep has white parents.  What in the entire blue hell does that have to do with what he said?  So having good, white adoptive parents = nobody of color is being oppressed?

The mental gymnastics people go through to try to discredit the TRUTH he spoke is amazing to me.  And rather sad.  Saw a cat I hung with in college say he should be glad he's been allowed to make millions in the NFL, like dude didn't work his *** off to get to where he is.

  Unreal.

I wonder if in other countries do they pledge their flag before class, or even if they have a flag in class rooms for that matter
Not sure about other countries but I've never pledged our flag or seen flags in classrooms here in Belgium. In all honesty I don't even know more than 1 or 2 lines of our national anthem. We learned the national anthem in music class in elementary and haven't used it since.

The only time I see our flags is when our national soccer team is playing an important match. Flags everywhere on those occasions but that's about the only time

Props to Colin though, that takes some balls.

It blows my mind, man. I want to think they don't understand, but then people say things like that and I have a hard time convincing myself that there are people that ******* stupid out there.

I've had conversations with white people where you can just tell they have no ******* clue. I've had conversation where I feel like we're on the same page. I guess it just depends on the person.

Using the fact hat he has white parents as reasoning is some of the dumbest **** I've ever heard in my life...but you know some white people grasp at straws in attempt to convince us that nothing's wrong.

Majority of NFL fans are uneducated and/or rednecks. Is anyone really surprised at the reaction? Any time a black NFL player speaks his mind or makes his own decisions, all hell breaks loose. Richard Sherman, Marshawn Lynch, Cam, Kaep, etc. Not equating being an NFL player to being a slave, but there definitely is some "obedient slave" like expectation from many white fans when it comes to black players.

Besides OP's expected angle, there are also many other reasons not to stand for the US national anthem.

It is funny how so many people at ESPN and elsewhere in sports media say that we should keep politics separate from sports. It is funny because of what they consider to be political and not political.

Play a game in a stadium paid for by regressive sales taxes. That's not political. Host a military parade before the game. Apparently that's not a political act. Use the competition itself to underscore the narrative of American meritocracy. That's not political at all.

Wear a BLM or "I can't breathe" T-shirt in warm ups. Oh no, take politics out of our totally apolitical world of sports!

In short; if people in the exoburbs of Boston agree with something, it is not "political." If the affluent North Easterner disagrees with something, it is suddenly deemed "political" and therefore unsuited for the sacred temple of televised athletics.
Great point

These people who think this way don't truly believe in keeping sports out of politics they just want what makes them uncomfortable out of it. The reason why they don't consider it political has been touched on in throughout this thread (having to say the pledge everyday in school since childhood, the danger of nationalism, the race aspect of it etc.)

Nationalism is one of the main reasons we cannot move forward as a country because there are a good amount of people in this country who feel like our **** doesn't stink.

There was a dude in my International Politics class whos response to someone explaining why isolationism is not a good approach to the international/global politics in todays world was "You may be right but I think you're wrong cause I don't feel that way we are America and i'm a proud American and I think we can do anything" This dudes answer to everything was "Cause we are America and we can do it"

This are the type of mindsets that come up in a society where you teach them the idea of American exceptionalism is legit and at the same time do not properly teach history and the way things went down.
I swear to god the irony of someone who rocks the confederate flag and will defend it till they are blue in the face and at the same time tell Kaep he needs to respect the American flag and this country could be top 5 all time most ironic things to be said.

The NFL isn't marketed towards southern/Midwestern "conservative" people? Many of whom are the same ignorant and uneducated clowns who expect black players to "shut up and just play football"? News to me...guess all those country songs they play before the games are just random selections

It's funny, the majority of blacks and Hispanics that have served in the military don't have an issue with this. White people that haven't served in the military are extremely offended like someone spit in their moms face. White people love the flag and America when it's an American holiday and when a minority "disrespects" it. It's sickening.
