Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

LA has nothing else to offer us. They're not gonna trade Paul or DeAndre & we can't take Blake cause of the new CBA rule.

Only way a deal gets done is if a 3rd team takes Jamal Crawford & gives us a 1st round pick/young players which isn't likely.

I think this **** was destined to fail way before all this **** that has transpired happened.

This team has been chasing a ghost since Pat got traded.

Always playing catch up, rarely seen as also ran, as pathetic as that sounds.

in 2010 that **** came to a boil. i don't give a **** if it was for Lebron. it encapsulated everything wrong with this team. Now in 2017, I would hope that mule's on it's last legs.

There's this saying in Spanish, the saying goes, "el vago trabaja dos veces" which translates to, "the lazy man works twice."

That's what this team has been, always trying to cut corners... All because of some false axiom that the powers that are believed.

You can't rebuild in New York, for some reason...

Melo's not the cause of this he's just a symptom of this franchise's futility.

in reality, a divorce would be best for both parties, he deserves to compete for a championship, and we deserve a clean slate.

I'm not holding my breath though...

I hate that 'You can't rebuild in New York' BS. The same thing has been said about the Yankees but after making smart trades for good prospects the fans haven't been this excited since the 90's.

All fans really want is a plan towards a championship. Look at Philly. That team isn't close to a championship but the city is energized because of what could be a very bright future. If we were consistently improving the team from 17 to 32 to 40 to 50+ wins every summer the fans would be even more hyped than some patchwork team every year. I'll take a championship any way possible but it'd be so much better with a group of homegrown guys. A group of guys we developed into stars. Imagine being a Warriors fan and watching Curry, Klay, & Draymond turn into superstars and eventually be the 3 best players on a championship team.

For once I'd like to see this franchise have a sense of direction. Whoever replaces Phil, please don't make the same mistakes we've been making for 15 years. Don't worry about selling jerseys, worry about building a team the right way.

Well its not like the Knicks ever had to bother.

Until Spreewell and Houston were on their way out the Knicks had one star making them relevant and competing along with a good vote ever since they won a championship.

When you go from King to Ewing give or take a few losing seasons here and there why would rebuild be on your mind?

Ewing's way out was not the best and Leyden didn't do enough to put a team around the 2 best players. Things just got worse and worse from there. That's when we really started embracing washed up stars and trading draft picks like they meant nothing. Got McDyess gave away Nene. Put out lineups like Weatherspoon, Eisely, Anderson, Harrington, and Thomas. Then things got really toxic with Dolan. Whole 2000s we just running through coaches and GMs. Starbury, Isaiah, Pringles. Gets worse or remains putrid. Some guy says he has a plan to tank for a certain free agency and the whole thing blows up in his face, we settle.

At best I think a lot of yall just suffering from losers fatigue cuz this definitely aint the worst Knicks team put on the court and it's definitely not the most toxic it has been.

And Phil aint strictly rebuilding cuz there's no way he keeps his job with a plan to tank and build through the draft the next 3 or 5 years. He gonna do similar. Draft the best we can with what we got, sign the players he wants, trade for players he wants. Like it or not for the immediate future this is KP's team with Phil running the show barring some miracle surprise player ending up on the squad.

Then after Phil the next guy is gonna be under the same pressure the rest were. No GM/pres or coach is keeping their job with 5 straight years of a losing Knicks team, building through the draft.
