Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Can't deny that Melo has helped a lot with KP and his development

Would be interesting to see how KP does without him

What you talkin about man? Melo has done a lot for KP, which he always emphasizes himself. KP and his struggles have nothing to do with Melo.

Phil gotta go

KP can't handle NY without Melo. they're expecting alot outta this kid :smh:

it'll be just a matter of time before he'd go through a slump and be on the back page of every paper with the stupid headline of the day. he'd be outta here and winning in Minnesota in 2 years :smh:

people are so ready for Melo to kick rocks and really don't realize how much he's helping this kid become what he is.

i'd hate to even take it here but I've heard it myself, people talking about finally having a white boy run the show, get Melo's greedy monkey a** outta here :smh:
we probably all heard it. It's there, lurking in the corner but nobody really wants to acknowledge it. In a way with alotta fans it's a race thing with Melo. he's greedy, he wants the shine for himself, ball hog, etc. whenever he holds it too long people are moaning, when he passes it's a condescending cheer, i heard it in person.

like i said, don't wanna bring it there but we all know the deal, it sucks and it's sad but we know.

blame Trump

In all seriousness why cant Phil just leave Melo alone, Aint phil got like 1 more year on his contract.

Just ride your one year and get the hell out Phil.

When KP hits FA GMs are Suge Knight PJ. "If you dont want your GM going to the media, trying to over ride your NTC.."

2 more years. I assume after Melo gone he's gonna do something to get another contract.
Knicks are wild disrespectful.

The only player that won a playoff series for us in the last decade and a half, is being ran out of town, as a scapegoat for poor management.

:smh:
Oh damn I barely remember us winning a playoff series  :smh:

I still don't think Melo is going anywhere this season if at all. If Phil does trade him for nothing it'll be a legit rebuilding phase though.

Melo is one of my favs players so in a scenario he waives his ntc he'll probably be fine wherever he ends up. If he really wants to be here then all of this extra media **** don't matter. Simply do not waive ya ntc and see what's good when ya contract is up. Its as simple as that.

I will say though it's not like the Knicks org or fans owe him anything. One playoff series win and maybe 2 or 3 seasons finishing above .500 is nothing to brag about. Slight improvement over the Starbury era where all we got was a playoff appearance. Its about to be 6 and a half seasons Melo been here now.

If the better all-star and above players don't want to come here **** them. It'll be clear we gotta do a legit rebuild. Melo will be gone and eventually Phil will be gone too and we'll either do that or continue to struggle. The writing been on the wall

I don't see a better alternative. Melo stays, Knicks try to get FAs to come here, the best ones don't AGAIN, we settle and overpay for the lesser ones, do some okay or bad trades, draft pretty well, another lukewarm season, we end up firing the coach, try a desperate trade, Phil quits or is fired, Melo leaves, fans start to **** on KP, fans blame new coach, fans blame new GM/president, we sign some bums, fans get hyped for another season, another weak *** season, trade rumors for KP, fans start hyping up some other promising rookie, talk of KP and new rookie can't play together despite KP helping rookie's development, we still suck, KP leaves or is traded, fire coach, bad trade, new GM claims to have plan, we suck for multiple season, we end up still not getting #1 draft pick or best player, Knicks trade picks for washed up injury prone top 10 player, sign more bums, Dolan fires GM, fans blame new coach for another **** season, fans turn on the player that was a promising rookie, etc. That's terrible Knicks the next 15 years or so.

Dolan's still the owner.

Some of yall still prisoners of the current moment and can not recognize the cycle is sick.

This is going to sound crazy but I think one of the main reasons free agents don't want to come here is..... the dunes triangle. As much as the coaches have tried to get away from the antiquated system, the more it's forced on the team. The team won't strive until they move out from under the cloud of the triangle.

If we trade Melo, i want Larry Sanders then

Give him whatever he want, He's still young and good player

Dead serious

If my Knicks fandom was it's own person then trading Melo for garbage pieces just might be the equivalent of slitting my metaphorical Knicks wrists

I think too many people's feelings about Melo are reactions to things that annoy them.

People here are sick of Phil's lack of accountability and know he's throwing Melo under the bus. They also can't stand all these casuals incorrectly claiming "we need to get rid of ball-hogging no defense Melo to win more games." A lot of fans react to this by hard-line siding with and wanting to keep Melo.

But regardless of the reason people want Melo to stay or go, the reality is that when you're going absolutely nowhere, it's better to have more ping pong balls than less. And it's better to not be in 8-10th place purgatory.

I'd rather that they give Melo the respect he deserves and buy out his contract, vs trading him for a bottle of green Tabasco.

Nobody wanted to come here before that.

Yet somehow the triangle with Kobe and the Lakers managed to attract players in FA and win.

I mean if we talking about eventually winning it all. Its winning that attracts players. Got dudes willing to live part time in Cleveland. Sure plenty are attracted to NYC and see the extra incentives but you want some guys who aint about **** or dudes who come here to win?

With the cycle, hate either falls on the players or somebody off the court.

You got Phil haters saying he aint do **** and nobody has called him out, his comments piss some fans off and then their problem with the triangle, he signed Noah, he signed Rose in a failed experiment, he kept Lance on the team, he hired Fisher just cuz triangle, he apparently always wanted Melo gone and still gave him a contract with a ntc (or maybe he only kept him around to help develop KP and then dump him?).

You got the Melo haters (who have been a bit quieter lately I guess cuz Melo playing better and he might get traded) who feel he's not a leader, he doesn't try hard enough, he doesn't play defense, he just isn't good enough to be the guy and for us to be a winning team, he knows he's not gonna win in NY so he doesn't even bother trying.

There's some truth on both sides but there's also some good things that naturally won't be mentioned.
