Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Who ever thought we'd be saying start KOQ?

Phil has made some good moves, and then some really bad ones. The Tyson trade, JR/Shump trade, and signing Noah. BUT he drafted KP, signed Lee, and got us Rose for Caldo.

The Tyson trade and JR/Shump trade was bad? I didnt even know Tyson was still in the league until 5min. ago, and JR and Shump were bad contracts for this team.

Has every move been "perfect", no but what GM makes all the right moves? If it was up to Pat Riley he wouldve chosen Chris Kaman over Wade, an without Wade he doesnt get Lebron or Bosh. Phil has done well IMO, and the Hornacek hire looks great compared to what we have had. He makes great decisions. Without his TO last night to take out KP and put in Jennings, the Knicks wouldn't have come all the way back.

Phil hasn't been bad but he hasn't been great either. Pretty average.

I'm just happy we have all our draft picks

I've always said this and will always stand by it. Phil SHOULD NOT be praised for selecting KP. We ended up with the 4th overall pick at the 2015 lottery which was a **** show in itself. With KAT, Okafor and Russell off the board all he did was pick the best player still available. It wasn't a hard decision to make at all and people wanna praise him as if he saw something others didn't or as if he picked up someone who wasn't #4 on most peoples big boards anyway. He just picked up the best that was left. Lucky for us and him KP turned out great but stop praising this guy for the pick

EVERY important game Chicken Legs had flu like symptoms

Dude would get nauseous thinking about his matchup with Roy Hibbert

I'm not giving him any credit drafting KP, from what I hear it was all Clarence Gaines and Phil wanted Justice Winslow :x

Phil could've also drafted WCS or Mudiay. I give him some credit for not going for the obvious pick, a PG.

That's doesn't make any sense.

Phil naturally has final say on who the Knicks draft depending on who is available.

If we indulge in rumor we can find anything to not give ppl credit; Melo fat, Melo's a blackhole, Rose a rapist/engage in gang rape, etc.

Of course he has final say but he had other players over him. Our top scout convinced him that KP can adapt quickly and help the team immediately so he went ahead and selected the "project with high upside"

This is not me talking out my *** I spoke to a few people at the draft party and they all said the same thing. Shout out to nick. nick. will never forget that night :pimp: :pimp:

I don't want to sound like an *** but I feel like this is revisionist history. It didn't feel like KP was an obvious pick at the 4. If I recall correctly, most Knicks fans booed KP getting drafted...and then when he started balling out, most ppl was surprised ad consequently changed their tune.

If KP was really the obvious pick at the 4, then there would've been expectations on him from the jump and not as many doubts from the public.

They boo'd because he wasn't playing in the NCAA with national exposure and we knew literally nothing about him other than that he was a Euro. (Most) Basketball scouts who did know about him had him as the 4th best in the class

shoot... i was pissed when we drafted KP just bc i knew nothing about him & the track record for drafting Euros early was / is shaky. i wanted Mudiay so bad lol

but while we're talking hypotheticals, id love to get Wilson Chandler back.
Jennings, Holiday, ill-Will, Cheese & Jose Guapo off the bench.
trade Pookie + whoever + bag of chips to get it done

Phil hasn't been terrible, but he also hasn't been stellar either.

At least he cleared up some space, got us KP and brought in players who are competing out there. Look back in hindsight, Noah hasn't been a strong pick up. Lopez has been playing at a higher level and actually contributing to his team's success while on the court. Noah on the other hand contributes when he's off the court

Trading Tyson for Caldo was bad

One of the worst trades we've done, next to the Bargani trade :smh:

Noah might be the 3rd best center on this team behind O'Quinn and Willy, let that sink in. I'm not counting KP eirher. Jerome James 2016.

I see Willy being the #1 by second half of the season.

We were a couple blown layups from winning this game, and we shouldn't have been close.

Brandon Jennings has been a God Send.

He's been a God send for an entirely different reason than we all expected. He been an energizer off the bench and facilitates just as well.

I'd trade Noah for Evan Turner in a heartbeat

Evan Turner is a solid player. It's crazy to me how he's moved around in the league as often as he has. He would be an instrumental piece to a championship contending team. Pop would make this kid look incredible playing next to Kawhi. His hustle and basketball IQ is vastly underrated.
